@unknownuser said: Where did you read that, Pilou? I don't see that anywhere in his original post. You right for the text I had interpreted the images! And was right! And sure your method is more speedy than the FredoScale when you start from the beginning! But when you have yet the object, that is an another story!

hi, erzane: I think in your last image above, you did not include that remnant in your selection before moving the selection. Maybe not. But it kind of illustrates the good practice of making a component as soon as you have constructed an assemblage of unique geometry. You do not have to give the component a unique name right away, if it interferes with your workflow, but is good to go back and name it, even set up layers to place these components. After all the time I have been using Sketchup(a few years), this is finally sinking in to my thick head.

Guide lines can also be deleted with Edit>Delete Guides. I use guides frequently enough that I set up a keyboard shortcut to delete them.

One important thing no matter you hide things or put them on (hidden) layers; NEVER EVER hide or put geometry that is not grouped (or in a component) on to other than Layer 0. If ou want to hide something (or put onto another layer), simply select it > right click and make group. Then hide the group or put it onto any layer you wish. You can always unhide your things from under the Edit menu > Unhide command or even view hidden geometry from the View menu.
