In most cases I would say you are right Juju---except for these, I think.

Chuck V.'s plugins are some of the best in the industry, and in particular,
the door & window tool. Its parametric settings are better than anything I can produce in
either Archicad or Vectorworks, and it has alone saved me countless hours to create
very complex windows, doors, and door systems.

Of course, if I could wave a magic wand, they would be perpetual.

      Oh, well......πŸ˜„
      Cheers.

      Hello
Might anyone know what is going on with VALI ARCHITECTS and his plugins?
His site is down---and so is his email.

You open up a CA file and under IMPORT you find IMPORT 3D SYMBOL and you can
see SKP is one of the file formats you can open up directly as a symbol.
There are some minor things you can do to the symbol, but it remains just a symbol
      that cannot be broken apart.

Yes, Flex and PB3 should work very well for me---and I am particularly encouraged by the last comment in your thread.
I look forward to hearing about the update soon.....!

    • RE: FlexTools Updates

While waiting, I went ahead and purchased your plugin only to find out that you are right: it can't be done at the moment.
      Disappointing......

However, what is encouraging is being able to punch in one of my windows into a wall I created with
Profile Builder 3 and when I shrink or expand the PB wall, I do temporarily lose my window, but once I press REFRESH it comes back. A relief.....!

In other words, this could be the combo I have been looking for that will fast track my building layouts: PB3 walls and Wall cutter for installing my own windows and doors.

Till then, though, perhaps we can clone you and your team in order to speed up what I need.......πŸ˜„

      Cheers.

      Hello,
Is it possible to use a window/door component with casings on BOTH sides and
only the FRAME of the win/door cuts the wall (a group), leaving the trim on both sides intact?
      With my thanks.

Can you tell us how you intend to cut in for windows and doors, and will we be able to use anyone else's
win/door plugin to work with your wall tool?
      Cheers.

How you are thinking through the options and our potential usage of the upcoming wall tool seems really thorough to me. No surprise, of course, in relation to the comprehensive depth of your present plugins.
Every possible success, then. Can't wait.

    • RE: SketchUP plugins for creating walls and to punch windows

I use DIBAC for laying out my walls in plan (2D). What is attractive about DIBAC is that it is very fast for editing layouts before the walls are lifted up, either with its own internal tools, or simply with the push pull tool itself.

To be able to edit quickly in plan is the key - as I imagine you can agree. DIBAC allows me to do so.
      Good luck.

    • RE: SketchUP plugins for creating walls and to punch windows

As I mentioned, you will have to speak with Mr. Vali about using his wall tool for commercial or residential walls. I appears it only works as shown in the illustrations on his website.
It is still incredible to me that no one has yet produced a robust wall tool as you are reasonably suggesting we have. Everyone, myself included, make our own as quickly as possible - and then just get on with it.
For now, as you are saying, make your own walls.

But for trim (and many more possibilities), another of the greats is PROFILE BUILDER 2. Once again, world class. That one you must have.
Attached is a quick sketch showing a VALI entrance and window with a crown moulding and baseboard by PF 2. The walls were made quickly with the DIBAC wall tool and the floor is a push-pull rectangle.
      Hope this helps.

    • RE: SketchUP plugins for creating walls and to punch windows

Vali's plugins are simply world-class, and as you say, the annual subscription is not very much. It is the
one subscription I do not mind paying for every year. The benefits for daily use are significant.

As I understand it, the wall tool is only for exterior use as shown by the illustrations for that plugin, not for residential or commercial wall building. I would check with Mr. Vali directly about the wall tool for how you want to use it to see if it is possible.

That question aside, the plugins, are superb, and the one I use the most, the WINDOW & DOOR tool is simply outstanding. Better than even the win/door tools in Archicad or Vectorworks.

You cannot go wrong with this series of tools in your Sketchup quiver.

PS. For the quick design of walls (and the ability to edit your rooms, etc.) DIBAC is very good, and as an interior designer, do not forget to purchase (if you have not done so already) CABMAKER PRO. Also of the same depth and sophistication to Vali's plugins.

    • RE: Lumion 8 is just amazing!!

I agree with this asessement. I spent several hours going through videos on Twinmotion over the weekend and it just does not compare to Lumion---particularly the quality of the light. If it would only take HDRI's it might be better.
It is also too bad for me since I am on a MAC and I know Lumion will not add a MAC version to their mix.
