RE: Vray render 7 out 8 core freezing
Have you tried rendering to a vrimg with the VFB mode set to No Memory? It might use less memory than rendering to an exr. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'd give that a shot if you haven't tried already. We bundle a tool to convert from vrimg to exr.

RE: Vray proxy export issue
check your memory usage. SketchUp is a 32bit process, so if you get close to 4gb of ram being used, you're going to get a crash. One day SketchUp will join the 64bit world, and this won't be a problem. Until then, try to keep RT renders in lower resolutions if you can.

Does this trick also work on OS X? Using the DR spawner on the local machine?
You can try using a 64bit spawner that is running on windows, but there is no 64bit spawner for OSX at the moment.

@dkendig, busy updating to 3.0 ?
heading in that direction, yes. Had to wait until this service release was out the door before we moved on to some of the bigger changes

RE: Vray 2.00.24261 Vray RT error?
You need to be sure to have XMLDRSpawner running (it should be started when you load our plugin, but some people like to close it for some reason), and if you have DR enabled, you need to be sure that all referenced spawners are running the same version as what you have installed to SketchUp. Also, are you doing a CPU or GPU RT render?
-
RE: XMLDRSpawner.bin freezing SketchUp
the initialization of our plugin is the slowdown, we don't wait for xmlspawner to start up before allowing you to continue using SketchUp. The spawner is necessary if you do an RT render, so it runs in the background. Using DR with a spawner on your local machine would be pointless.

RE: .vrmesh to .obj?
no, sorry, we don't have a way to get it back to another 3d format once it's been converted to a vrmesh.

RE: How can we change vray proxy materials?
there should be a multi material for each proxy. There should be sub materials for each multi material, which are displayed when you select the multi material. You can edit each of these materials, by selecting each one in the list to the left, or you can change which material is applied to each material ID for the multi material.

RE: Batch render
I use a NAS drive, Synology DS412+, which has a syncing service called Cloud Station. You could similarly use Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. Just make the whole ASGVIS folder synced between them all, shut down the spawner on all of the machines, install an update on one machine, wait for the files to propagate (shouldn't take long) and then start it up on all of the machines again.
-
RE: Batch render
at our office, I have all of the machines in our render farm, syncing the ASGVIS folder, so they all have the same version of DR running. No problems so far, except that you need to ensure that the dr spawner is restarted after the sync is complete.

RE: Batch render
ok, so that's the service release. I believe you have nightly access, could you try in a nightly build?

RE: Sketchup crashes when opening a file after installing vray
I would suggest contacting our support department if you require prompt assistance. This website has absolutely nothing to do with the developers of V-Ray for SketchUp. You could go to Chaos Group's forum and post there also. Being impatient on SketchUcation is not going to get you anywhere though.

RE: Turn off preview render
I'm guessing you have a material in particular that is hanging it up. You can choose which materials can be overridden, which will allow you to override all materials, and then enable each on individually until you find the one that is causing the huge slowdown. That could help people troubleshoot the issue with you.

RE: Render Distribute vRay 2.0 Beta
The 2.0 beta is over, please update to the latest service release that is available on our website. This may have been addressed in the service release.

RE: Batch render
Window->Preferences->Extensions and then click on V-Ray for SketchUp. You should see the version number listed in the details at the bottom of the window. I'm told that this issue may actually be fixed in a recent nightly build, if not the service release.

RE: Is it possible to save your material selection?
you can save out vismats, or you can save skm files via SketchUp, which will have V-Ray information embedded in them. If you save out the skm files, you can build a native SketchUp material library which will have all of the V-Ray info set and ready to go. Not sure I entirely understand your question though.
