RE: What will happen to the old Asgvis.com site?
Yeah, I don't have access to the vismat download page, just like most users. Honestly, I've been trying to avoid the forum as much as possible, because I'm not a support person, I'm a developer. The download section does not rely upon anything related to your forum account. I don't know about any forms or the migration process. All I had to do was enter in my username or something and click a button to reset my password, and my account migrated just fine (except for the permissions being completely wrong).
I don't know who is doing what, why, or how. I was told that the migration process was being hand picked, and that forum related issues should be resolved soon if they aren't already resolved. If anyone has any trouble with any aspect of the site, they need to contact support@asgvis.com so there can be a ticket about this. It's impossible to coordinate the support for this migration otherwise. I'm sorry I don't really have much more information about what's going on. When we were just ASGvis, all I had to do was shout to one of the other 9 people on the other side of the room to find out what was going on. Now we have to send emails, or catch a plane to find out... so it's going to take some time to get used to the way things work.

RE: What will happen to the old Asgvis.com site?
-sigh- It'll get sorted out eventually. They are going through it by hand, like I said, so I guess it's taking longer than I thought.

RE: What will happen to the old Asgvis.com site?
I think so... If not, we would like users to contact support@asgvis.com so we can be aware of the issue.

Please contact support if you are still having trouble. There may still be some issues with some accounts, but for the most part it should be fixed I believe.

RE: What will happen to the old Asgvis.com site?
I know I can post now, and another user posted on the forums. Chaos Group is combing through the users manually, to help ensure that the data is migrated properly between our old forum and their forum. I'm not sure how far along they are, but if you give it another shot, you might be able to post now, or by this weekend.

I hope they get this sorted soon.
We are hoping to have this sorted out by next week.

RE: What will happen to the old Asgvis.com site?
There's a little arrow to the right of every forum on the cg forums. If you click it, it will collapse like the fold panels in our material editor. I think I like their forum more than the one we used on our site.

RE: What will happen to the old Asgvis.com site?
Since we're all the same company now, it doesn't really make sense to have separate websites for our two plugins, and the rest of the company. Once we get the username stuff straightened out, everything should be fine. All of the posts have been ported over I believe, so all that's missing is user permission and naming convention issues. We understand that it's a rather big change, but by joining forces with Chaos Group as much as possible, and sharing resources, I am sure we will have a better end user experience once we are finished the merger.

RE: What will happen to the old Asgvis.com site?
We are working on integrating the forums with the Chaos Group site. It is their wish to have everything unified, which totally makes sense. There shouldn't be an asgvis site anymore, if there is no company called asgvis, right? As with any merging of data, there have been some hiccups, but we're hopeful that everything will be resolved soon.

RE: VRayLumen - Light Controlpanel for VfS
I applaud the attempt to edit our lights, and I hope you and thomthom are able to work something out. I was planning on writing something similar to this, except so it works with multiple host apps rather than just SU. It's totally possible. Currently we don't store light information anywhere other than on the group for the light, so it should be able to be manipulated entirely from within SU if you are tricky enough at editing the xml snippets. Good luck guys!

RE: [Plugin] UVTools 0.2 Pro (Beta) (Updated for SU6)
Oh my, I just stumbled across this wonderful tool. We have a "V-Ray Sphere" in our product... and mapping it is an impossible task normally. With this plugin though... it's just beautiful. Thank you for brightening my day.

RE: Revolutionary SketchUp Library
Of all the things that have tumbled out of your keyboard arjunmax09... this one is up there. Do you not read what you type before you hit the "Submit" button or something?

RE: Free upgrade to the latest version....
arjunmax09 - Please contact the appropriate support channel so you can actually have your issue resolved. This is not the ASGvis forums, nor an official support channel. You are experiencing an issue that can not be resolved by anyone other than ASGvis.

RE: Problem with 1.05.03
The problem is that the materials have their textures set to external files. If you look at the path for the bitmap texture used in those materials in the V-Ray material editor, you should see for example: "C:\Users\s porobic\Desktop\Water Textures\untitled.bmp" is set for one of your textures. If you have an external file set like that, the file needs to exist at the location specified in the file path. It isn't going to look in the SU scene for the texture, and automatically extract it before a render, because you are telling V-Ray that you don't want to use that image for the texture, you want to use an external file. Your render progress window is telling you that those files are not accessible, so either those files don't exist at the specified path, or V-Ray does not have permission to access those files.

RE: Different renders to reassamble later
I just wanted to point out that thomthom, although awesome, is not a magical wizard. He knows the answers to the questions, because he reads the documentation for the product. I suggest everyone else does the same prior to discussing basic features that are covered in manuals and getting started tutorials. I would imagine it would be nearly impossible to accomplish anything in v-ray at all if you never read the basic documentation and a few tutorials on a variety of subjects. V-Ray is a tricky program with a steep learning curve, it's easy to get lost, that's why that stuff is out there to help you guys. Check it out, you might be surprised what you learn!

RE: SU pro 7 demo + V-Ray demo = license problem
When the error message popped up telling you that you had already activated a demo license, it should also have told you to send an email with the request code. Please follow those instructions, it's the only way you're ever going to get it to work properly.

RE: Vray distributed render question
Just to clarify,
@unknownuser said:we can use on our single licence up to 10 machines to render
means that you can install the DR Spawner on up to 10 machines, you only get to have the actual license for V-Ray on one machine at a time. You can move from machine to machine on the same local area network that your floating license server is running, but it can only be used on one computer at a time. The DR Spawner machines can all be run simultaneously. -
RE: New vray for sketchup
Correct, you can't "check out a license" and then take the license outside of the network where the floating license manager lives. This has been the case with our licensing system since the first time we supported floating licenses I believe.

RE: V-Ray Light - Lumens - Light size?
This post definitely threw me off a bit. I was very worried that something had gone terribly wrong. After thinking about this for a bit, and discussing it further with one of the guys here in the office, we have figured out the cause of this behavior. This is actually expected behavior. The larger a light source is, the more rays it will cast, and the more it will effect the scene. If you had a plane with an emissive material applied to it, it would behave the same way. The intensity of the emissive material wouldn't change, but the influence it has on the scene would. I hope that makes sense.
