thanks Dave. If I can, I'll keep using 19 but I will need to reinstall 2020 as Administrator.

      So... .it begins.

I was informed that as of 9/15/2020, my Lisence of 2019 will no longer be valid, so it's off to 2020 I go. (Im still dithering between learning REVIT or Blender! 😲 )

Anyway, so 2020 is loading as we speak.

Query: All of my millions of plugins (of which I use about 12) are up to date for 2019. Do I havce to thru the whole tedious to-do of upgrading them or will they just glide right into function for Version 2020?

How will the switch to subscription affect you?

The little I do use SU for these days will get less and less, the days of excitement and participation are over, just look at the developers, remember when every week we had new and exciting plugins? now? not much at all.

The innovation has stopped, the product has reached the peak of what it can on it's limited core, now they are milking every cent from it.

That is so true. It seemed like there was always something new to download and try. TIG Whaat, and ThomThom and others on the forum have been doing great things but now it just seems like there is a dearth of real innovation out there. You have been missed on the forums Pete. I learned a lot from you. So I kinda figured you had moved on to greener vectors.

I check in every once in a while to see what's going on, but SKP seems to be dying out. Heck. .. does anyone even get the newsletter anymore? We used to get one every month?

    • RE: How will the switch to subscription affect you?

I've been a SKP using since the old @Last days (2002 or there abouts. V2!) I even went to the first basecamp in Boulder back in 05!

I don't wanna sound like an old'"Back in my day. . ." doofus-- but really...back then it seemed like the Mission of sketchup was just to be a simple, intuitive and easy to learn modelering program that pretty much anyone--from kids to architects--could download and start using in about 1/2 hour.

Sketchup only really took on higher levels of sophistication because of a community of wizards out in the world developed the plugins for differnet missions. Google and Trimble didn't seem to give a heck or a darn about developing it into anything more, so the idea of these high subscription fees seems ludicrous to me. IT seems to me that Trimble is looking to basically kill sketchup--(death by a million lost users!) rather than support it.
Luckily i have a work situation where subscriptions can be paid for but for a long time I carried my own license and it was working fine for me. but when i retire, in a few years, and still want to do some modeling as a side gig or for fun. . . Sketchup might just be a fond memory of an antiquated old kitchen appliance that will be probably get replaced by a new blender. πŸ’š

I don't suppose there's any chance of @Last buying it back?

But what am I doing wrong? I notice my renders get very few responses no mater where I post. Here, my Facebook page, some other forums I'm on. I get a few compliments, but it seems my render don't really get anyone excited.

Maybe it's the limitations of my PC. I can't really put in a lot of detail and I can't run a lot of test renders for the same reason. Like this render... it's not really the lighting effect I had in mind, but no way to adjust due to long render time.

      Hmmmmm...

      I like them--for all that's worth.

Exciting 😐 Seems like SU is almost caught up to FormZ circa 2000 with the ability to hide objects. So glad I didn't renew my maintenance after 2017. Layers = Tags... I can't even.

Anyone want to guess which version of ACAD LT I'm still using? πŸ’š

IT seems that from the release email I just got that visibilty and nomenclature are about the only major changes. correct? One thing that I have asked for since v.3 (!) yes i have been around that long! is when working in a group or component with nested groups, etc is the abilty to hide or reveal only the next object up in the nested tree. Maybe the new outliner will allow for this. I dunno. I have never really gotten in to OL because of that so maybe this will help.

      Gotta check it out.

Thanks, l i am. You're right that the model looks fatter than the original, but when I measure the width it comes out right. Go figure.

So. .. it's more of a fat boy than a high boy. πŸ’š

Sorry. had to go there. Low hanging fruit and all that.

      Still looks great.

Anyway, to get really nit-picky. the fan is different in the model. Was that by design?

Merci. . .but I have gone thru all of that with the little add-on. The mouse isn't even recognized except as a Keyboard/ mouse unifier thing. I dunno.

The corded mouse is working fine and I use the BT mouse for other stuff.

      So. . .thanks again.

thanks for all the responses. I did try to download the logi add ins, but to no avail. it turns out that is was just a bluetooth thing. I have added a second corded Logi Mouse that is more up to date and so far so good. So. ..

      hopefully all is well.

      thanks again!

    • RE: Not a Bug! Middle Mouse Button Orbit Prob Solved

I realize this is a very old thread, but i have the same problem on my simple BT Logitech mouse. The Scroll / orbit thing doesn't work anymore, but If I plug in this corded mouse that I had left over from the cretaceous period --it works. I can't find in Windows 10 where to set the options for app specific settings for SK 19 and none of the support things from Logi help. Any advice?

any ideas on the a good whiz-bang wireless mouse that has performed well for you?

      Thx,
