    • [Request] Decorative Corbel

I'm looking for a halfway decent decorative corbel something like this, but doesn't have to have all the detail, just the general curves:

Does anyone know where to find one or a tut on how to make one...I didn't find any worthwhile in the 3D warehouse. Any help is greatly appreciated 😄

    • RE: Noob with Podium plugin problems

Try this - its the help page on the Podium site. http://www.suplugins.com/index.php?p=page&page_id=Help#Install

Oh, and did you restart Sketchup after you installed Podium? That is necessary after installing any plugin.

    • RE: Noob with Podium plugin problems

When you install Podium, by default it creates the plugins in a folder for "SketchUp 6". Either you can go find that "SketchUp 6 Plugins" folder and move the files to your SketchUp 7 Plugins folder, or uninstall Podium and when you reinstall it, watch for the install folder and change it to SketchUp 7.

Some comments would be nice.. I never get why my work sometime isn't commented and when it is commented, it's just two times for example. Other topics are commented at least ten times, and I don't even reach five. Isn't it good enough? Isn't it worth to be posted on this forum? If you guys are only interested in photo-realistic renders, then I'm off here. Is it that I'm 17 and that you guys, who are all over 30 years and got a job as architect, designer or something else like that, don't take me serious because of my age? If you think that I don't like negative criticism: I do, because I can make my crap better with it. Ok, enough blabla. I'm not begging for comments, I just want to know why.

Speaking as a SU/rendering newbie myself, I think it has to do with the level of detail you have done. Look at this post by a new member - he got a lot of replies because he spent a lot of time adding lots of details. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=17169 Most of his renders are straight from SU, and they are really impressive.

Keep in mind that most of these guys do this for a living and have seen and/or created much nicer models so it takes a lot to impress them. My advice is to browse the gallery and look at the posts to get ideas for better modeling and rendering. If you see something you like and don't know how it was done, ask! 😉 Everyone here is friendly and willing to help. 💚

How is the composite done, exactly? Do you export a wireframe the same size as the render and just overlay it in Photoshop?

      Troy,

Thanks for posting this. 👍 I like to see how others use Sketchup, as well as get ideas and learn better ways to present my own projects. I'm looking forward to the rest of the documentation.

    • RE: Render this: Stained glass

My first attempt...I'm a rendering noob, and I tried IDX Renditioner Express and Podium, but couldn't get the light cast from the window to be colored. This is with IRender nXt. I really like the edge highlighting setting. It needs a lot more tuning...any tweaking suggestions?

    • Colored Light Renders

I'm trying to render light coming through a stained glass window like the pros are doing over here:http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=19778&hilit=stained+glass+challenge but I don't get colored light. I am using Podium and IDX Renditioner free versions. I textured my window with Sketchup glass and changed the color, but the light coming through the window still renders white. What do I need to do to make the light from the window colored?

As a new Sketchup user, I love the idea of being able to download all of the most popular free rubies at one time and in one place. Maybe there could be one free package, and one package with the most popular rubies for sale. I also like the idea of choosing exactly which ones to install.

Gábor is mainly developing it for educational purposes as in July we are going to a "Roman re-enactment camp" (to an ancient site of a Roman fort actually) for kids where they are going to be able to walk about in the model "real time" like in a FPS game and different "tasks" will be hidden inside.

Wow! How does that work when the kids can walk around in the model? Is there a website you can point me to that explains?

I have been playing with this plugin for Windows...I can't get over how cool it is, so I made a little video with some of my work and models from the 3D warehouse.
