Tinanne, can you upload a part of the model that exhibits this? I can take a look.

Talk about not being original, this guy's is just another Kyanka "goon" wannabe with bad grammar and even worse spelling!!! What kind of dolt proves his own point about himself? Ha ha ha! Just another one of those goons of doom...not very original..actually far too ordinary nowadays and pretty childish.
So go do "something awful" on Second Life where you can rile up 14 year olds with matching maturity, and try not to just amount to being SPAM...

Hi Rudbeckia,
I've looked at your model and WOW(!)that's too many hi-poly trees, grasses, and plants! There are much lighter ways to do this, and I think this is just a learning curve thing.
Go to the 3D Warehouse and do a search on "low poly trees" and you will come up with many examples of good looking tree/plant/shrub/grass objects that are literally hundreds of times smaller than those in your model.
I regularly work with SketchUp models that are over 100MB without problems, but it depends on what is making the SketchUp file large; is it because of hi poly count or large textures? This can make a difference, and as you become more proficient with SketchUp you'll find the tricks that help keep a file light, like using components, creating .png based trees, .png based railings (instead of fully geometric railings), like down sampling the .jpg textures, lowering the amount of edges and thus faces on an extruded circle or polygon, etc...
This is a great forum to learn about these tricks of the trade.
And also, don't assume that a new computer hasn't been sitting in a warehouse for 6 months...or that the manufacturer was/is willing to open the box and update all of the drivers before it gets sent out the door. The graphics card manufacturers are upgrading their drivers much more frequently than the computer manufacturers, so always go to the graphics card mfg's site for the latest.
One other tip on keeping it light...make sure you "Purge Unused" from the Model Info window > Statistics pane. This will ensure that your model is cleared of components, styles, and materials that are not being used in your model.
We're here to help, so keep us apprised of your progress and any questions you have as you go!

Wow! Nice renders! I like the previous hi-rez photo realistic render (before the people) because it seems like the poly count is higher than the last one (looking at the curve on the arch of the left rear window).
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!

I get a Splat... Can't even get into the file...seems corrupt.
- CraigD
I completely missed this post!! It was great hanging out with you Coen! ...seeing I missed 3DBC, I was really glad you were able to come to Boulder and have some fun!
Till next time! Cheers!
Great job Jon! Sweet tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to share this!!
Cheers,

Hey Daniel, it was great meeting you and hanging out when Coen was in town! Welcome to the SketchUcation forums as well! I think you'll like it here!
So for Vista, make sure you have the latest video drivers from your card manufacturer. Sometimes you have to go to their site to get the latest, as opposed to going to your computer manufacturer's site..
Let us know if that works or not, and we'll go from there.
Take care!
Cheers,
- CraigD
P.S. ..you shoulda gone out with us after dinner... we didn't get Coen home till after 4:00 am!
When Chuck Norris was born, the only person who cried was the doctor. Never slap Chuck Norris.
Death once had a near Chuck Norris experience.

P.S. I met Chuck Norris once and got to shake his hand... I am now a lefty!
I love to hear that people are having fun with SketchUp! I look at it the same way!! If you can't make something fun, why do it? That's why SketchUp was designed the way it is!
Cheers Brad!!

Absolutely FANTASTIC! I love it!! ...when can I get a ride!?
Great work! Thanks for sharing and keep it up!

Yeah, thanks Todd! I wondered how my friend Alex's talk went! Sounds like fun...

Hi Kim, what I'm saying is there will opportunities for anyone who wants, to give demos to fellow attendees.
I've been told there are labs/workshops where you'll be able to do your own demos.
Does that make sense?

Hi Craig,
Thanks for the swift reply... Much appreciated...!

From what I understand, there will be plenty of opportunity to give demos during 3D Basecamp to the community in the workshops. So, if you've got some interesting things you want to share and demo, then I'd work on it and be prepared to jump in and present.
It's really kind of you to offer this, but I'm affraid that it will be almost impossible for you to do - unless you already have good experience with Kerkythea 2008 Echo..??
(Which I - unfortunately - doubt... )I will see what I can come up with and send you a PM...
Maybe you misunderstood... What I was saying is that there will be time for people to demo whatever they'd like to other attendees. So bring a presentation and grab a spot to show off some cool Kerkythea action!
- Craig
Just wanted to say that it was great to finally meet you all in person! Thanks for coming over to the booth and spending some time chatting!
It was an awesome show and I had a lot of fun demoing SketchUp. My favorite "walk up" was the person who watches me quickly build a house and then they say, "ok, I get it...SketchUp is just a quick mock-up toy to proof ideas before you begin building it in (insert your lame CAD software of choice here)".. That's when I'd open a fully featured commercial building model with full interiors, 50 scenes showing floor plans, dimensions, ground plots, elevator shaft mechanicals, etc... and watch their jaw drop! he he he ...yeah, just because it's easy to use, doesn't mean it's a toy!
Again, thanks to everyone who showed up to say hi! It was really great to meet you all!!
Cheers,
- CraigD
Ha ha!! Too much to list, but here's a few:
jumped from my friends car into the back of another friends truck bed at ~70mph (she veered away while I was in mid-air because "she didn't want to see me do something crazy"...and I just barely made it. (moral of that story is only do stunts with your trusted friends that know how to keep the car steady!)
jumped from a wall to a 15 inch wide landing about 8 feet away... it was on top of a 17 story building...
climbed out of my friends car to get beer from the trunk for the girls in the back...made it back with two beers and we never went below 40mph... the girls were impressed!
jumped my motorcycle onto the trunk of a cop car with the cop in it, then launched off the car onto the street and the chase was ON! ...I got away because I had mad skills...and the flat foot was just mad!
...think; Jackie Chan meets Evel Knievel

Anyway...
A certain not-to-be-named Googler asked me at the convention, "Did you try the 7.0 beta with WINE yet?"
I replied, "What 7.0 beta?"
He quickly backtracked. "Oh, I forgot...we haven't let that one out yet."
....I never backtrack, I only add range to my attack. he he he

Good questions and suggestions!
I've forwarded this info/link on to those who are involved in the planning and coordination of the event, so I'll let you know what I hear.. (or they'll jump in here and elaborate if they can).
Keep the interest, questions and suggestions coming!
I haven't seen or heard anything...
Hi Kim, sorry that no one else jumped in and helped answer questions...I tend to be the main person here who does that, but know that I do forward all kinds of info to the team from this forum.

My dog Tiki runs over when I'm doing floor exercises and licks my face and stands on me! Makes me laugh every time!! ...plus I taught her how to kick with her back leg, so she runs over and starts kicking me!!
Wheelies and stoppies on a motorcycle! ...big grins!
I was speaking with Coen about training techniques and thought I would post what I've been doing daily. Mind you I'm still doing physical therapy on my right shoulder so I do not do any pushups, pullups, or plyometric Kung Fu exercises...yet!
Here's my daily routine:
...today..
7:45 am
8:30 am - shower - > work
12:00 pm (about 35 min)
6:30 pm (music: AC/DC - Back in Black, Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith, for inspiration and timing!)
11:30 pm
...sleep...
Cheers,
