Yeah, they should be working Kris. Can you drag and drop a .skp file into your model?
Chris
Does your model have color in it? When you exported it, were you in a display style that had removed the color from the current view? Could you post a screenshot of the model right before you export it, and then the exported jpg? Thanks,
Chris
And then how do they get the final tapered shape? A lot of sandpaper?
On pieces like that Dave, I'm always interested in how would they have actually made that in the real world, with wood. Would you be able to recreate that process in SU? Those cool joints and tapers done in wood are very fascinating and often look complex to me.
Chris
Awesome, glad the work around for the work around is working
Yeah, that is exactly what I'm referring to. SU also believes that if everything connected is not selected, that you might have missed a few pieces, and that is why it does not turn that checkbox on. I wonder if leaving the box on at all times (maybe just remove it?) but have a warning note that not all connected geometry is selected would be a workable solution?
Chris
In Windows, even though you are an admin on your system, it does not run software as an admin by default.
Try right clicking on the SU icon and choose "Run as Administrator". Then go through the licensing process. From that point on, SU should be fully licensed, and you should not need to do the right click and run as administrator step anymore.
Let us know how that goes,
Chris
Hi Mike, right now when you create a component, it should automatically replace all the geometry with the component. If it does not automatically do that, then it has determined there might be an error in your selection set. Are you saying that you wish it would always default to replacing the geometry, even if it thinks there might be an error in your selection?
Chris
Hi Blackquod. Are you submitting the bugsplats when this happens? If so, can you PM me your email address or username that you are inputting when it splats? I can try to look up and see if this is a known bug or not.
You can also try uninstalling (temporarily) all your plugins and see if that makes a difference or not. Thanks,
Chris
Hey Kim, what if you right click on it and just press the "m" key. It is possible the shortcut key might still work, even though the menu item is missing.
Or can you right click on the taskbar and choose "Cascade" is that an option? Sorry, I'm not on a Win 7 Pro machine at the moment to test these options out myself.
Chris
Hey Kim, sorry its not working at least as well as it was in SU 8. We think the new toolbars and UI are perhaps at fault here. Hopefully we can get it working better in future versions. Most of us here use SU on dual monitors, but we have not seen this issue yet (doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that for some reason it hasn't yet affected us).
There is a little trick you can do to try to force SU back onto your primary display. Maybe you even know about it already. But essentially right click on the SU application in the taskbar when SU is open, and select "Move". Then press an arrow key, and the SU window should then be glued to your cursor. You can just put it back on your primary display and then maximize. Hopefully that at least helps keep you working.
Chris
Thom wrote a method to use bitmaps, but I don't think he ever used png's. I think his bmp code might be wrapped up in TTLib?
So just to verify, are either of you still asking any questions?, or did you both solve your own issues?
Chris
What kind of errors do you get in the ruby console?
A message would be nice. That is something each developer will have to put into their own scripts for now.
Could you upload the file you are trying to patch?
Yeah, no work arounds Fredo. The user will have to restart SU.
You can also drag and drop files into your model. You might try that to see if it helps.
Could you attach the files here, or PM them to me so I can take a look at them? Thanks!
Chris
Hi Tim, we've seen a few similar reports of this. A few questions for you.
