    • RE: So what do you think about the SCF?

Hi all, I've been inactive for a bit lately. Interestingly though, I'm using SU more now than I ever have in the past. So I'm attempting to come back (thanks to some friendly pushing and shoving from Susan Sorger). Already I think I'm addicted in just a few minutes this morning 😄.

In general I really like the format. It all looks pretty great. There's mor forums than I'm used to, but I tihnk I'll get used to that. They look really well organized. So keep up the good work everyone!

PS I like Avatars of people that look normal. If they start getting all creepy and lame, I might start turning against the avatars being on. But so far, it seems mostly pretty good on this forum (not like some of the other 3d software forums I've been on before).

Hello, their is a built in shortcut for Pageup and Page down to change from scene to scene. I don't think there is aw ay to skip to s specific scene though.

Thanks for the nice comments Edson.

I think your link you posted is pointing to the wrong place. That file is not on my server 😄 I think you uploaded it here:

    • RE: Help locating an intersect with model tutorial

Here's a quick study model of a method I learned on the forums. It involves pushing and pulling, intersecting with model and creates a nice curb on your road and parking lots. This method leaves a slanted road and parking lots. It would be really easy though to make flat parking lots using the stamp tool first, and then finish with this process to make a road with a curb over the terrain. Anyhow, hope it helps. I wish I remembered who posted this method first. Seems like it was Paul Miller maybe...

    • RE: No 3d export

Ahh, all my anti-mac snobbishness was lost, since you are on PC. lol, oh well. I couldn't resist putting in the little mac jabs.

If its a problem on the PC, I don't know how to fix that. You probably should contact the SU team. The link is right on the their support page. Its at the bottom of the "Enter Pro Groups" section. There is a link to contact the team with some instructions. Here's a link to the support page:

Good luck, I hope you get it working,

    • RE: No 3d export

I am guessing you have a mac (this is a common problem on those unstable beasts). The answer is to "trash your p-list." I hope you know what that means and know how to accomplish it. It will fix the problem though,

    • RE: Snaps

Generally you don't have to actually rotate the model 10 degrees, just rotate the view. I agree that snaps can often be too sticky to more "powerful" snaps though. I find I need the black snap often, buts its always over-ridden by red or green.

    • RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Stone patio basic modeling technique

Oh yeah, good idea Anssi. Pull the stones first, then delete coplanar edges using the script. That is much less tedious than erasing them all by hand Smile

Hi, I've attached a model of a simple method I use to create flat stone work for patios and walkways.

    • RE: Scale tool

O normal é para entrar o scale factor - 1.5 = 150% mais grande. .5 = a metade do tamanho. Mas tambem pode teclar um tamanho diretamente. "1.3m" = 1.3 metres. É isto que quer dizer "VCB: Number w/units".

Hi Susan, you're thinking of editing the component group and resizing everything in edit mode. All he did was select the component and then scale component as a single entity. If you right click on one, you can select "reset scale" and that will clear all scale changes made to a single component and restore it to its original state. Notice also:

      Scale Definition
The Scale Definition menu item applies any scaling operations, to the currently selected component, to the component definition in the Component Browser.

That will take the current scale attributes and apply it to the component. It's a handy feature.

    • RE: Crash with drape tool

Ok, I played around with it a bunch and found that it was the large grass portion and the driveway/street portion that seem to be splatting SU.

But, then I deleted the Simuterra terrain and replaced it with one of my own. The whole thing draped quite nicely. So it appears that it is actually a problem with the simuterra terrain. I reported about 6 detailed bugplats about what I was doing when it crashed. I also gave them a link to this thread. Hopefully it will help them somehow.

Well, since no one had any, i went ahead and altered a bunch of the SU kids to have different skin, hair and clothes. I also made a few people and kids in wheelchairs.

Hello, I am in need of more 2d people like the ones that come with SketchUp. Specifically I am looking for more children and perhaps one or two people in a wheelchair. Anyone have anything like that? Thanks in advance,
