SketchUp 2013 MAC OS 10.8.4 - License Problem
-
When I enter my license information initially, it is accepted and allows me to start SketchUp.
However, when I launch SketchUp a day later, it informs me that I need to purchase a license so I wind up re-entering the same license info as before.
How do I get my license to remain permanently? -
as always, installation and license activation (aka initial launch) with admin. rights e.g. by using the user account 'Administrator'. Otherwise the license information cannot be written to the user folders of the OS sothat you are required to input them again with every program launch.

Thank you for your response.
I am the only one using my system so I am the designated system administrator.
My question is - what is the proper procedure for entering my license information into SketchUp 2013 (so that it will remain there permanently as opposed to it only remaining there during the time that I use the application)?
To enter my license information, what I did was select the menu labeled 'SketchUp' then chose 'License' which brings up the 'SketchUp License Registry' box. I then entered my user name, serial number and key. Upon completing this I get a notification stating the I'm running a licensed version of SketchUp and am instructed/asked to start using the application. Unfortunately, the license information is not retained after the application is closed. That's the problem that I'm trying to resolve.

In Windows, even though you are an admin on your system, it does not run software as an admin by default.
Try right clicking on the SU icon and choose "Run as Administrator". Then go through the licensing process. From that point on, SU should be fully licensed, and you should not need to do the right click and run as administrator step anymore.
Let us know how that goes,
Chris

Thanks for your response, however I'm using a Mac so the same rules do not necessarily apply regarding system administrator information.

D'oh! I missed the extra info in the title of the post - sorry about that.
Let me see if I can find a more Mac appropriate response...

Perhaps something to do with Gatekeeper?
-
the OSX Gatekeeper may block launching of downloaded but unsigned apps which SU13 is surely not.
the problem above is regularly caused by missing user rights for writing to the user folders of the OS, using the dedicated user account 'Administrator' instead of an arbitrary user account with admin. rights should fix the problem.

Remarkably, I am no longer experiencing the problem that I originally reported. Apparently (for now at least) the latest version of SketchUp (Mac OS X) appears to be operating as it is suppose to.
In closing, thank you for all of your responses / suggestions. Greatly appreciated.

i installed a new drive in my laptop yesterday and spent today getting everything up and running..
anyway, i had this same 'problem' (with su8)finally figured out what it was after the 4th launch.. it's just that i still had the sketchup splash screen set to show upon launch which sort of makes it seem as if the license info wasn't remembered.. even though it was.
doh!
