ok, that should work. Make sure that the scrunched up material is not grouped. If you ungroup it should apply the material nicely.

Thats true, that number has grown dramatically and many of them that I read about are 3d mesh specialists.
Chris
I am also wondering if you applied the material first, then messed up the mesh? Or did you mess it up then apply the material?
Also, is that flat piece a sedries of hundereds of smaller triangles, or is it a single face?

There was absoultely nothing new unveiled at all. There were no public (or private that I'm aware of, which doesn't mean much) conversations about the future of SketchUp or Google. It was just a fun event to discuss current uses of sketchup, new workflows, new plugins and integration with other software. And of course to meet other users. So don't plan on finding anything completely brand new in the videos.
However, there were lots of methods and tips presented that might be new to you. For large models and organic terrains, check out Danial Tal's presentation. It was great! Lots of the presentations were excellent. And the Tips and Tricks is of course near and dear to my heart. Myself, Jean Lemiere, Susan Sorger and Csaba all presented in that session. Check it out and rate it and comment on it

Hey Al, I prefer a headset so that it stays next to my mouth at all times, instead of a mic that I have to keep my head next to. I used a pretty cheap headset that I got for free with a game and it worked ok, but probably a higher quality one would give some better control.
Chris
E tambem Google tem um site com mais informacao. As folhetas que algums presentadores tinham no basecamp sao incluido na pagina aqui:

Someone feel free to retype this if it doesn't make any sense in Portuguese Thanks!
Something like that is precisely what I was hoping to hear, thanks Adam! I know clipping is a recurring issue in many/most 3d aplications (3d game engines, 3d modelers, etc). So I don't think its fair to call it a SketchUp bug when in reality it is more of a general 3d issue.
So again, thanks for the info. I want to look more in to this for sure! Its as fun as z-fighting, occlusion culling, and the carmack reverse!
Chris
Clipping is a known issue of perhaps every 3d application? Its why 3d games don't let you zoom in very close to anything. They put clipping restraints placed on cameras to keep them from getting to close and clipping objects. If there are programs that truly get around clipping, it would be cool to know how they do it though if anyone has any more specific info?
Chris
I haven't used rhino, but I know that 3ds max can also do terrains from contours, if that helps.
Chris
When I've really need to get a good clean crisp animation I have exported as png files that 2 times the dimensions I want, then I shrink them down, giving nice crisp lines. THen I turn them all into a movie using adobe premiere. Its a little bit of a process, but it gets excellent results.
Chris
Ahh, I see. I have not spent much time looking at the Mac SU screen. I didn't realize thar all the toolbars were sort of separated out that way. I'm afraid I do'nt know Boa sorte e tenha um bom dia!
Chris
Hey, thats really interesting. Thats the kindof trick that might come in handy repeatedly. I'll play with tomorrow,
Chris
Thanks Edson, it was really great to be able to participate in basecamp! I was surprised that I didn't see any Brasileiros there. Do you know of anyone who made it up for the event?
I am wondering if you are seeing people who are using the View>Toolbars>Large Toolset (2nd item on the menu) instead of all the separate toolbars. Is that what you're seeing?
Chris
What types of "points" do you have? Is there a way to turn them all into really small line segments? Maybe that will help.
Chris
Hi Edson, you can pull off the saide toolbars by grabbing the bar at the top of each toolbar and dragging it out to the workspace. Then drag it up to the top where you want to put it. If you want to adjust how the icons stack in that toolbar, you can resize it once it is free of the side or top dock by placing the mouse over the bottom corner and dragging it wider or taller.
This would make so much more sense in a quick video format. If you don't understand, I can probably do a video on it later if that would help. Or maybe some screenshots.
Chris
Hello, is there any chance you could post the model to the forum so we can take a look? I've had problems with the drape craqshing SU, but rarely (if ever?) the stamp tool. I'd like to look at it,

No one.
But no one said the opposite either.
I think you called my bluff I only wish I was privy to any early info......

Google could easily spill some needed info for developers and ruby coders which way SU is heading. They could do that without having to reveal 'secret features' no one ever heard of.
Who said they haven't told us a few little hints here and there...
Chris
Todd is that the official basecamp youtube location? Why is it on UK.youtube? Why don't they have all videos up? Where did they announce these videos?
