      LandsArch,
Try printing the (full scale) .pdf from your Brother A3....and ck the page scaling options....it should have an option for tiling larger sheets.

      Solo,
Maybe Jakob (plot-paris) will be along shortly as he had/has some great ideas here

For example. . if I have a complicated window Group that would have a tree looking like this. . .
      Try my quick/dirty method:
      Window Group
_____Window Frame...cntrl + C the window frame component

      __________Mullion (Component)

_______________Glazing etc etc. ...cntrl + V the window frame component

I could work on the Glazing and still keep the mullions and Frames visible but have the rest of the model hidden. Work with the copied comp(s). within your active comp. & delete when complete.

      Thx,

      David,
Above is convoluted at best....though I like the prospect of next of kin visibility ;~)

I asked the question, if I have "on every page" set as visible and active, can I modify it (in this case the title block) unique to THAT page, i.e. have a distinct number? Yes
and lock it for That page on each page or is it just "global" all the time? No,It can be local (per sheet)
and what would be the difference / application for having a template (in this case a title block) vs having the title block "on every page"
what I found with the template was that when I clicked "additional page" within my title block template, I got the right sized paper but my title block did not carry over.
What am I doing wrong here? You need to add a "duplicate page" not just another (blank) page........please ref attached image.
      red

      Red,
Open any of the default LO title block templates and experiment with the add duplicate page (inside page) and see if these get you closer to where you want to be.

    • RE: Bug or Bad Practices?

      Jim,
I played with this some and I think what you have to do is reset your axis in your SU model.
Then orient your scene(s) to positive axis (blue/Z) coordinates.

I suspect that when you choose a scale in LO it somehow orients (expects) the view to be a positive/parallel(blue/Z)projection position.

      Just a hunch,

I think the problem might be the same as the z-fighting issue.
The dashed lines consistently render while in hidden line mode so I don't think it is Z-fight related.
Are the lines on the same plane as the faces they are drawn on?
      Yes (in test file)
Can you pull the lines up off the ground/faces by a very small
amount and see how it looks then?
I tried this (+ 1/8") and it did not resolve the missing line segmnets

Thanks for you help on this,

    • RE: Resolution problem to export to PDF an A1 drawing

      All,
Same here on Win XP Pro SP3
I find that if your style has face setting set to hidden line mode the dashed lines will display/render correctly (Vector).
All other face styles(modes) will not render/display correctly.

      As for workaround:
In SU.....select your desired style and untick display edges...save this style for use in Raster/Hybrid mode in LO.
Create a style with edges on and face settings in hidden line mode.
      IN LO:
Once your model view is set with your desired style (edges off) copy the model view and paste in place......changed the copied style to the hidden line mode style and turn off the background.

You are baisically layering one model on top of the other and may want to isolate the two by placing on different layers and move forward or backward if/as required.

      C

    • RE: Pages selection crashes LO

      arumaret,

I would try temporarily unlinking the .skp and turning off auto render in the Sketchup Model view tab if this is selected on all models on all pages.
Then Re-link the .skp and update model references by page if you can.

      Thanks Gai,
Scaling as you describe is noted....thanks.
But please bear with me, what I experience is scaling up/down when that is not what I desire.

      IE:
In LO I wish to resise a SU model "window" about center and maintain the set (current)scale of the model.
I have maintain scale on resise ticked.......but if I resise the "window" with the alt button the model will also resise!

My understanding is this should not happen.......Y/N?

    • Alt...about center...ignores preserve scale setting

Maybe it is performing as intended, but......if I resize .skp in LO with any other resize functions, & preserve scale on resize is ticked.........model scale is maintained as expected.

However, if I resize about center [alt function] the model will not maintain scale.

It appears you hit the nail on the head.
Changing from faster to medium had a dramatic impact....not so much from medium to nicer.

    • Group by layer [by Rick W] in V7 defaults all to Layer 0

First, thanks again Rick for this great plugin.

I have used this frequently in other versions without fault.

Now it seems, in V7 to group all layers of geometry properly, only they [groups] are on on layer zero.
In other words, all non grouped geometry is placed in a group of the same layer, only the group name does not represent the contents.

So if I have 5 cubes, each cube on it's own layer....run Group by layer....I now have 5 groups all on layer zero, and their contents on 5 different layers.

      Anyone else experiencing this?

      Best,
      Charlie
      Edit:
After reading this it strikes me that it would be great if this worked in reverse.
Create the Group name from the layer the geometry is on and then put all it's contents on layer zero. πŸ˜„
