Sorry to borrow your thread title. I was thinking of asking the same about a different video. Here it is:

Does anyone know what software they used for the parametric bits?

One important issue that nobody mentioned is.... drum roll. Does the Drape tool work without bugsplates in SU7?

I remember when ruby was first introduced many users thought "ho hum what's the big deal?". With time we saw the true importance of the ruby feature thanks to inventive users willing to share or offer reasonably-priced scripts that added new useful features to SU. I'm predicting the new Dynamic Components feature will have a similar path. I'm thinking it may lead to some exciting new & powerful components that will blow us away.
totally agree with you Ross!
btw: the pdf 2d export works still bad
Whats wrong with it? I use it all the time for good quality image export. Just have to change the setting from draft to high.

Urgh. Typo on my part. Re-download to get the fixed version.
Rick, stupid question but, do I use the same link Smustard sent me to Re-download? I tried that and it say it can't verify my email.
Hi Rick.
It is working now. Thanks alot!
One thing. I can't get it to cut walls still. When I made a 500mm thick wall and tried to use the plugin (i tried 500mm and 1000mm for max wall thickness) it didn't cut a hole through the wall. Am I doing something wrong?
Cheers
This is SU? I can't believe it! The furniture models, did you make them or imported from Max?

Rick what is the Safari Su bug? Anyway I've tried it with Ruby Console open and it went like this:

Rick I can't get it to work for some reason. I've unzipped everything into the plugins folder. When I use the Windowizer4 dialogue it creates a single group. Am I doing something wrong?
For metric, you need a dot between the number and the units, i.e. 50.mm
Hope that helps.
EDIT: I looked again at the image you posted. My first answer is still correct, but I see something I need to try to fix for default metric users: the default settings are 2" and 4", which are being converted to '~51mm' and '~102mm' without the dot, so that's my problem to fix. But, at least there's an easy workaround - make sure there's a dot.
Thanks for making me aware of that issue.
Hi Rick. Thanks for the quick reply. I still have the same problem this morning after following your instructions. I'll post an image when I have time.

Beautifully detailed work! I love them! Keep it up

Dear Chango70,
No, that is not my model. It is an image I got of the web. I posted it so others could see what was required. It looks tricky to model.
Regards,
Bob
Oops sorry I thought it was a render you did. You just can't tell these days. Apologies.

Cheers guys, some really useful stuff here.
I especially like th bit about not going to the wash room, wise words if ever i've heard them.
Relaxing sounds good, as well. No point in getting overly stressed.
Another question: What sort of thing do you think i should be wearing? I was thinking smart trousers and a shirt and some semi-casual shoes.
A lot of this would depend on which course at which university you are going. They do vary quite a lot. If you where going to say the RCA then it's a different approach to say Sheffield.

The difference between arrogance and audacity is simply that although audacity can have both negative and positive connotations (arrogance or bravura)it usually used in the positive sense, whereas arrogance is always entirely negative.
Exactly they are not interchangeble in context of their negative/positive connotations. When you change a word from one with positive connotation to a synonym with negative connotation it is usually refered to as SPIN. Don't try to spin this one please it's just cringe inducing.

Lets just say the part of US that inspires the World isn't the part that voted for G.W.Bush. It is the part that voted for Obama.
Well, it's just too damn bad you can't vote, isn't it?
I didn't need to in this case now did I. The results came out that way. I can't wait till January 20, when George W Bush takes his last trip on Air Force One, back to Texas where his cowboy costume wearing ass belongs.
Lets just say the part of US that inspires the World isn't the part that voted for G.W.Bush. It is the part that voted for Obama.

Interesting you noted "arrogance" (another word for "audacity")...
Errr. No. Arrogance isn't vaguely related to audacity, it's more like stupidity and ignorance. Everyone from around the world can see that this guy had below average IQ and a failure to grasp some of the finer complexities of the World. It was plainly obvious from the moment he opened his mouth. What happened when he took office is plain proof that for some people, first impression is enough to judge them.
Check your thesaurus again.
Check yours mate.

8 years of irratational bitterness
Hmpf.
War mongering. Staunchly lying to the UN. Illegally obducting foreign nationals. Torture. Detaining foreign nationals on refutable grounds. Violating international law. Bullying. Arrogance. Cynicism.
Complaining about this, protesting against this, is not 'bitterness'. Neither is it irrational. It's common decency. It's normal.
I'm thoroughly disappointed in many of Bush's policies, so I'm not defending. I'm pointing out the irrational bitterness and hatred that started before he even took the Oath of Office.

Krisu,
MAT files are for MAX Vray. There is a converter but you will need 3DMAX to convert those files and it is really not a smooth process. Your best bet is to use .vismat files that are made for Vray for Sketchup. There are many available in the downloads section at the Vray site. Your can also download the material editor and make your own which is truly the best option. This way you have full control over the materials you are using not to mention they will be custom materials that you created so your renders will have that custom look. Good luck.
Scott
Thanks for the info. I am a bit unsure about purchasing Vray as there are free renderers out there like indigo (too slow on my duo core lappy) now... It is a lot of money and I am right now a student so I can't afford it. I bought a license for Podium but don't really like it as much as Vray that I used from my office. What am I supposed to do? There isn't a Educational copy of Vray for SU is there?
What version is Vray for Sketchup on now?
