      Hi ThomThom.

      Test 1: Moved TT_Lib and selection toys to the native plugin folder, left everything else untouched. Got this error:
      Test 1

      Test 2: Moved TT_Lib and selection toys to the native plugin folder, removed 000_AdditionalPluginFolders. Selection toys loaded correctly.
      Test 2

      Test 3: TT_lib, selection toys and 000_AdditionalPluginFolders in the native plugins folder, dropbox folder left empty. Got this error:
      Test 3

      Test 4: Just in case, 000_AdditionalPluginFolders in the native directory, TTlib and selection toys in my dropbox plugin folder Error:
      Test 4

      So it is some kind of incompatibility with this two plugins?

      Hi all.

      Yes, I use dropbox to sync my plugins folder between 2 computers, 1 windows pc that I use at work, and a macbook that I have at home. I've had no issues with this system so far. Almost all plugins work ok, the few that don't, I install locally.

      I had compatibility problems between podium 2 and 000_AdditionalPluginFolders, but uninstalled podium and everything went back to normal.

      No, I don't have organizer installed.

      Hi ThomThom.

      Thanks for your plugins!

      I“m having issues with additional plugin folders and your plugin. I get the following message:

      2012-12-20_1127.png

      I tried putting ttlib2 in plugins, and in my additional plugin folder. Same error.

      Edit:

      TTcleanup and TTsolidinspector work ok.

      Hi Fredo,

      I downloaded this tool as part of Fredo6 tools pack. Makes Sketchup one of the most useful tools for architectural design. I constantly use it to report areas and update area schedules of projects. I now use sketchup as a 2d tool more and more. Bye autocad!!!

      Thanks a lot!!!

    • RE: Export sketchup to CAD

      HI, yes, as TIg said, it is a known bug. Another simple workaround is to open the exported file, type units and set them to the units you used on the original sketchup file.

      It works! No need to restart sketchup, just close all windows and reopen. Now, it would be neat to have this on system preferences, the same way it is on windows.

      Thanks

    • RE: Running Win on a Mac...??

      On my macbook I have parallels and an old copy of windows xp. I use it to run autocad (2008, if i'm not mistaken) and other misc sofware. I have 8 GB of ram on this machine and have allocated 3 GB to parallels. Windows does not see the internet, for security reasons, just my home folder.

      I had bootcamp and parallels at one time, using the same windows install, but windows complained, because it thought there were two different machines and asked to be reactivated. I switched to windows xp-parallels only. I use autocad for 2d work only, and the performance is more than acceptable.

      You probably have an unused windows license laying around somewhere, so that can be less expensive than buying windows 7. And, xp is a lot faster than 7 under parallels.

      My advice, parallels, unless some heavy 3d intensive app is needed.

    • RE: LO DWG-export to ACAD, need help please

      Hi:

      @unknownuser said:

      • Is there a way to have all LO pages exported into one dwg file, not every page into a single one?

      I believe not. Every page becomes an independent dwg.

      @unknownuser said:

      • Why does the drawing show up in Acad only on the layout pages and not on the model page?

      There's an option in layout to either export contents to layout or model space. I prefer to export everything to model space.

      @unknownuser said:

      • In Acad the dimensions seem not to be connected to the model, could this be because I was shortening the extension lines for a cleaner look?

      I don't believe dimensions are exported as autocad dimensions, just as linework and text.

      @unknownuser said:

      • Some colors for fillings turn out differently, how can I solve that?

      Haven't had that problem. Color fills are translated to hatches with truecolor color in autocad (you need to check the appropiate option in the export dialog to get fills to autocad though.

      @unknownuser said:

      Another issue I have is with creating different line weights for plan drawings in one model. I was not getting it right with using sections in SU so I quicky made a 2D plan in SU from the 3D model (this also eased up working with fillings). Then I copied the section surfaces to the clipboard and pasted them into the respective page in LayOut placing it over the plan model. Using a different line weight for the Style this looked just perfect. I am not very surprized that with this technique the geometry in Acad is behaving strangely. Would it be better to do the coloring and maybe even the outlining of the sections in LayOut? Any ideas on that?

      How about setting a scene so it only shows the section face. Set that view in layout, set it to render in vector. Copy that viewport to the clipboard. Select the view and explode it in layout. You will get the same result. Then, you can paste the original view and send it to the back of the exploded vector view if you want.

      I either set my model to hybrid, or as sonder does, get the section cut (using the section cut face plugin) in addition to the base model. One thing i've resorted to is to use different shades of gray to color linework in sketchup that i don't want to show as heavy in the printout. It works.

      I believe if you approach layout expecting editable dwg's, you will never use it's full potential. Translating between different software almost always is difficult if you expect the resulting info to equivalent to natively created content. In that sense, using layout to create dwg information, while doable, is probably not the most practical way to use it. Using LO to create said sections and plans is probably better.

    • RE: Apple not so GREEN after new MacBook Pro!

      My current machine is a 13" unibody macbook. I damaged it's keyboard while cleaning it. I ordered a second hand keyboard, and a set of special screwdrivers to change said piece. (from the us, because those damn triwing screws used to fix the battery are not easy to come by locally) I had to dissasemble the computer completely, including motherboard, trackpad, battery, screen. All the screws were different length. It was a pain! If that had happened to my previous machine (a 13" non unibody macbook), it would have been an hour job, not on this one.

      If the same thing had happened to a retina macbook, it would mean a new machine. Basically they are disposable, and at $2200, its ridiculous! Also, on all previous machines, over time, I upgraded ram and hdd. That is practically impossible on a new mac.

      I may need to upgrade my current machine before this year ends. I really like osx and favor it over windows. If i need to upgrade, osx is my number one choice. I don't like the direction its hardware is evolving though. Now, what options do I have? A hackintosh?

      Having a thin profile may be nice, but the price to pay for having it is unacceptable, at least for me. I don't really care if my computer is 3 mm thicker, as long as it can be repaired and upgraded.

      Btw, apparently this EPEAT thing is something created by apple itself, so, i question how objective this new rating is.
