Thanks for the reply. I'll check the erase/no erase the next time it starts happening. But I'll say I almost never erase the original so I know it crashes then. It does not crash all the time, but when it begins to, then I cannot use the plugin with that particular drawing any longer. Even mirroring a simple box will then crash SU. I was wondering, could this have anything to do with video drivers? My system updated to Vista Service pack 2 and then I started having video problems. I rolled back the driver to an earlier one that worked but I still have odd effects at times.

I use this plugin a lot. Since getting SU7 it crashes the program often. It still works with simple geometry, but as components and groups get added it fails. Never had crashes before SU7. The plugin usually gets to the final "erase original selection" then the bugsplat.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks for the replies. What I wanted was a line texture that would not result in objects i.e. closed rectangles. I had the notion that an image texture would be less resource hungry than a bunch thousands of lines. At any rate, I created it in AutoCad without allowing the ends to connect and imported. Will turn into jpg later.

Is there a Keyboard short cut to close all open/nested Groups/components? I know I can go to outliner and click on the file. Is there a shortcut or keystroke I can assign to do this?

Problem solved. And I was the fool. I've been working with AutoCad and had not touched SU in about 6 months. Problem was me forgetting and using the wrong tool. I feel like a true idiot. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

My drivers were 2007. I updated to the latest 2009 but the problem persists.
Some more discoveries. It seems that if I import a ready made component the handles appear on that object. Then as soon as I draw or create another object they will not function on any including the previous one that worked. This is crazy. Not having the rotation handles make the program seriously handicaped. Anyone have a suggestion?

I recently had a lot of trouble with my machine. Virus's/trojans etc. Now I find that when I make a Component/group the rotation handles(red + 's) that would show up when you mouse over an object are missing. I also updated my SU to the latest version in the last few days. The handles have shown up a few times but I can't figure out why they did on those occasions. I'm not sure what could be the problem but my virus problem did affect Google. My anti-virus anti-spyware listed Podium as a trojan and several items in associated with google applications. Podium no longer works. Still, can the mussing handles be associated with the new version of SU?

When I bought my Vista laptop 1-1/2 years ago there was problem with SU and the nVidia driver. Many people reported that SU would hang when started from the icon. However, when started by double clicking on a SU file it worked fine. Updated drivers solved this. I recently purchased SU 7 and had it working fine alongside SU 6. Today the problem as described has returned. It also did the same with the my SU 6. I have rolled back drivers, reinstalled the latest drivers, removed and reinstalled SU 6 & 7, and tried every thing I know. I have not solved the problem. I now only have SU 7 on the machine, but still have to start it from a file. All other programs work fine. As I said this was an early problem with SU, Vista and nVidia. I cannot explain why it came back. Suggestions?

Tried the ruby console test. All resulted with "true". I take this to mean that they were loaded correctly yet I cannot find them anywhere--not under plugins, draw, tools, or right click. Suggestions?

I just purchased SU 7 and tried to add my plugins from SU6. Several do not work but give no errors on start up. I purchased Organized.rb from Smustard a while back but never got it to work. I'm not sure if I'm understanding it correctly but does Organized.rb alter the code in other plugins? Could that be one of the problems? I have lots of other plugins that didn't show up and I've removed them, and I have many that work fine. Below are the ones that don't work that I'd like to have. Any suggestions are welcome

So I just upgraded to Pro 7 but when I fire it up there is no plugins menu. I have a lot of plugs to transfer from pro 6. What's up here?

There is a reason the the SU tutorials say it is not a CAD program. The difference is Dimension tools. Sketchup sucks for dimensioning because that is not what it was designed for. I find it almost impossible to use for real construction dimensioning information.

Why does this happen. Lets say I make a frame of 2x4's. I then skin the frame in 1/4 or 1/2 in sheet goods. Every thing looks fine close up but when I zoom out the frame begins to show through the "skin". Why does this happen? Can it be prevented. Check scene1 + 2 in the example file.

went back to v.38. Here is my error regarding finding the path to the folders. Even though they appear to be in the correct path.

I'm really excited about this plugin but I've had problems. I originally downloaded the most recent version v.38. It didn't work well for me and had a lot of differences from the tutorial. I eventually used the v.08. However the "example" menus are still there even after I have completely removed the ini files. What is up with that? I noticed in the SU_Tools.html file there is code calling for the Example labels.

Any one have an answer for this?
