      @dave r said:

      Texture images are embedded in .skm files which are basically renamed .zip file. I haven't seen any viewers that would show the embedded images. You could just use the Materials panel in SketchUp to look at them. You can set the panel to show extra large thumbnails if you need to see them better.

      I want to be able to compare material folders and delete copies/incorrectly named/unnecessary versions. I can't do this one at a time.

    • Win Explorer or viewer that shows thumnails of materials?

      I know in the past I cuold go to my SU materials library in an image viewer, (and I think Explorer) and see previews/thumbnails of each. Previews of SU materials are not visible in Win 10 Explorer, or my image viewer. Any way to see these in Explorer, or is there a viewer that sees SU material files?

    • RE: Anyone Upgrading to 2020?

      I abandoned attempts to use Layout in 2016. Has it since been changed to offer automatic dimension updates when the referenced model is edited? That would be the only change that would make it viable for me.

    • Maintenance update? Where, how?

      My maintenance expires 12/10/2019. It used to be that SU would send out reminders. But I got none. I know they want to move people to subscription but I'm not interested. I'd like to renew my "classic license" but can't find where to do it. "Manage license" just gives me my current license information, but no link to renew.

    • Printing problem. Tiny print!

      I had this problem years ago, but I can't remember how I solved it. Also, this only affects this model! Every other model prints correctly. "Use Model Extents" is NOT checked.

    • Entering object dimensions--arg!

      What is the correct way to enter object creation dimensions so it to correct to the X/Y? Every time I do the axis is wrong. E.G. I enter 3',6' it never is on the axis I want. Reversing to 6',3' after the initial entry will give me the correct alignment. However, if I had entered it as 6',3' originally I would have still got the wrong thing. I expect that is another "Doh!" moment.

      @dave r said:

      A google search for subway tile texture turns up loads of options.

      Yes. I'm aware. I was looking for an already created SU texture. Converting a google image requires a little more time to make it tile correctly and even out the light, shadow, and reflections.

    • What happened to 3D Warehouse "Get Models" in 2019?

      What happened to 3D Warehouse "Get Models" in 2019? 3D Warehouse in 2018 offers "get models" and "Share Model". In 2019 it offers "Share component" and "Share Model". What's up with that?

      Can anyone point me to a source for a tile-able white "Subway Tile"
      I can make one but don't have the time to deal with fixing light and reflections.

    • Is there a way to set Save to an earlier version?

      Is there way to set SU to save all files to and earlier version? e.g. all files created in 2018 save as 2016.

    • JF Custom toolbars?

      I'm setting up SU on a new machine. On the old one I created toolbars with the JF Custom toolbars plugin. JFToolbars has a list of commands that I can't find anywhere else. I used it to create buttons for bottom view, toggle perspective, guides, group/ungroup. I was wondering if I still need that plugin in the latest versions of SU or are there features to do it built-in. If not, I can't seem to find JFT here, so was wondering if dragging the JFT plugin folder and .rb files to the new SU installation would work?

    • Why/what is this?

      I was given a model to work on done by someone else. They were working in 2019. I'm on 2018 and it was backed saved for me. At any rate, I have this orange line in the model running off to infinity. It is un-select-able and cannot be deleted. I'm thinking that is a display thing. Suggestions?

    • RE: Question regarding Upgrade to 2019.

      @juju said:

      Assuming a standalone workstation perpetual Pro ("Classic") licence:

      When obtaining and activating your SU new version serial, the previous (and older) version (-s) cannot be reactivated after 30 days.

      But the existing already activated installations on the machine will keep on going as long as they're installed. Once you uninstall them you cannot reactivate them, as explained above.

      The latest installation can, however, be deactivated (uninstalled) and reactivated (reinstalled) as you see fit within the licencing limits.

      I hope this helps?

      What if I do not update to 2019. How does that affect my licenses for various past versions?

    • Question regarding Upgrade to 2019.

      I've been reading conflicting info, hopefully, someone here can give a definitive answer.

      I have upgraded each version of SU since V4, and currently use 2018. My "maintenance" is good until December 2019. (Mine is the perpetual/classic license) I read somewhere that updating to 2019 disables older versions. I'm pretty certain I will not be moving forward to future versions. But I would like to have a working version that I've paid for.

      So, will 2019 disable 2018 on my machine? If it does, when I do not subscribe for 2020, will my 2019 version stop functioning, or revert to a lesser version? Basically, if I want to have a working version of SU, sans control by Trimble, which version should I use?

    • RE: SketchUp 2019 release

      I a futile attempt to vent and perhaps be heard, I posted this on the Sketchup forum. I have no illusions that my words matter, especially considering the number of "good job Trimble" posts I read. At any rate, my reaction as written is real. I just completed my first work job in Rhino.

      "What a different response here about SU2019 as compared to other SU forums. Not one of my colleagues, or users I know, is pleased with what Trimble has done in this SU release.

      I’ve been a Sketchup user since version 4. I find this “update” to been the most disappointing ever to be released. Thin in everything but methods to charge at increased/inflated rates. Further, the marketing is almost insulting. For your money, you get line types, revised Tape measure, and multiple ways to pay more for less. Still, based on the glowing, responses here, that copy writer must be pleased.

      Though SU has been my main software for work since Version 4, I have been using Rhino for personal projects for a couple years. My transition to using Rhino for work begins today. In addition, I’m terminating my recommendations for, and instruction of, SU to 3D beginners. Rhino and/or Blender are just better options."

    • Un reliable update messages?

      I get update messages from 3 sources. Sketchucation Extension Store, Fredo6 update check, and the Trimble extension warehouse. When I get from the Extension store, the update process goes well and it says all updated. However, a run of Fredo6 plugin check shows updates available. Most I know have been updated. Further, update notifications from Trimble's extension warehouse are sometime problematic and I'd like to disable them. Suggestions?

    • Select object and isolate?

      Is there a command or plugin to isolate an object is Sketchup similar to Rhino's isolate command?

      It seems like a simple plugin to build.
      Select object/s> Hide all unslected.

      Edit: Found "Select n Isolate plugin but it apparently dosen't work with 2018. Any ruby mavens able to fix that?
