Strange you guys didnt get the same message. This happened on 2 completely different machines. 1 a custom built desktop and the other on a Sony Vaio laptop. I will try reinstall later and see if I get the same message and I'll post a screenshot.
      Thanks for your replies.

    • RE: SU upgrade to 8.0.4811 (Maintenance 1)

On both installs I did over the weekend (1 desktop, 1 laptop) Windows popped up a message saying that sketchup did not install properly and had applied compatibility settings to it. Anyone else get this? I'm not sure how to check what settings have been applied just in case this has an impact SUs performance. I dont want to run any program under any kind of emulation mode.
Both machines have 64bit Win7 installed. Any ideas?

Superb model and I've really enjoyed following your thread. It must be sweet to play with your model in a game too!

Surely each of the squares is just a face with the jpeg textures made to fit the face. Dont think there is any other way.

I had a request from a client a few months ago for something similar but at the time I didn't think it was possible with SU, you've proved me wrong! πŸ‘

So the mesh is now alot more accurate. Thats great I will give it a try. I have used land meshes before from google earth but I find that they tend to be a couple of meters out here and there once I get a proper site survey data thru at a later stage.
I am getting SU8 btw, paid for upgrade by my client. Just wish the UV tools were improved natively, not via ruby scripts and increased polygon support. I guess most of us are expecting great things from sketchup without paying an exorbitant price, maybe a little unfair on the SU team I dunno.

i used this one simple video to send to the homeoffice showing a site we're planning for and immediately received approval to upgrade to su8.

Jeff what did you do in that video that you couldnt already do in SU7? Am I missing something here?

Jeez.. no 64 bit version in 2010? C'mon Google you've dropped the ball! You beta testers couldnt persuade them?

What benefit do you hope to gain from a 64-bit version of SketchUp? This is really this question that needs to be discussed.

      john
      .

John I hope you are joking. Obviously more memory space and the ability to render out complex models. You said:
"If you are an architect, it may be interesting to know that we have just granted you convenient access to Google's complete collection of geo-spatial imagery for more or less the entire world. In many parts of the world, you can now build a site model with accurate terrain, aerial and street-level photography and rough massing models for adjacent structures in minutes... without leaving your desk."

What use is all this if when I get to the point of wanting to render out my proposed building it crashes because SU has reached its memory limit?
Dont mess around, its 2010 and you're saying 64bit isnt the way forward for SU? I guess what you are really saying is "tough luck, thats a render program problem, NOT a limitation of SU".
