    • Textures and Components viewer

I know that some of you knew XnView as one of the famous Viewer for .skp files.
But not everyone knows that there is more to discover.

First of all you can put components or projects directly into Sketchup just with drag and drop. With the organizer structure possibilities a real good management.

Another good thing is to set textures with drag and drop straight into Sketchup. They comes up as images in scaling mode. This is quite good, because you only have to scale the Texture as you like. Then use contextmenu ' use as material ' , delete original texture by keyboard button and you'll have the texture in the material browser available as skm file ( just save ).

If you have a sample of textures all not seamless, you can open your main application for seamless textures out of XnView ( rightclick on image and choose the application path once )Tweak it, save and then you can use the way above and you'll have the new Material as a seamless .skm file into your browser.

For the better workflow I made a XnView toolbarbutton. Just unpack the zip into plugins folder. This means an external image and components viewer (starts directly in Sketchup)
      Here you get Xnview http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enhome.html

Note: For running xnview you only need the XnView.exe out of the installation folder.
This .exe file should copie into windows>system32 folder.
Note: If you need a language package or plugins for xnview, put the folders also into
      the same directory.
Note: This installation can be done just by copie the .exe file, without loosing an actual Installation of XnView.

It's a shame you don't have such training programmes in Europe... ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm ATC Trainer here in Germany, but all is done by the resellers. So people do not have any knowledge of what is possible here. No Fairtrades, no marketing, no services, no POC
coming up from Google...only web advices. Yep, it's a shame.

    • RE: Licence should be seperate

sure you don`t have, because I try to make my Sketchup portable ๐Ÿ˜‰
The licence and the seperate Net Framwork installation ๐Ÿ˜ข are the main obstacles to do that.

    • Licence should be seperate

Layout is coupled with Sketchup in reading the licence file.
So if I try to start Layout as seperate Application, Layout tells me `missing file/Sketchup6.lf.
I would like to see Layout as an external application, reading the licence file

    • Net Framework
      1. I would like to see NetFramework as an integrate part in Sketchup ( or Layout )
        No external installation

      2. The licence Informations should be read out of Sketchup folder

About the resolution you're right. I work on a Dell Precision with that resolution and it works very fine for me. But I don't no if the all in onegeneration is a good choice.
It seems very small, not to much upgrading, noise and head are unknown....
But let`s see. Thanks for the response.

    • I Mac

      Any experience with the iMac?
I like to change to a Mac and find this could be a good start.
Otherwise it has the ATI Radeon card. Is this really a handicap with the sketchup performance?
