Ah! Ok, was a stupid question. Apparently I am still dependent on the way 2D programs work usually (select is moving, too). I'll look into how to change the move icon to an arrow, then
Thanks for the heads-up!

Is there a way to combine Select and Move tools into one single tool?
Functionality would be as usual, icon might be Select's. In my opinion, that would increase efficiency.
I have a related copyright issue, if someone can comment on it. Namely, what if:
Now, which one of the following scenarios would be safe, in your opinion:
(a) I reupload to my own models portal, no fees whatsoever
(b) I reupload to a separate collection on 3Dwarehouse
(c) I create a SU plugin for accessing from my own server (no from 3d warehouse), no fees whatsoever
Reading the TOS of 3d warehouse, tallbridgeguy's works are clearly legally covered by the derivative work clause.
Hi fellows.
Is there any plugin/method of making a custom library of models (i.e. NOT NECESSARILY a component)? Or even better, is there a way to assemble a custom, local collection of collections of any relevant resource(s): Components, Models, Colours, Materials, all into one customisable interface/panel? Thanks in advance.

plwyood/mdf has warped yet
MDF is very good at NON-warping. But I would not make these elements from MDF, mainly because of its weight, and structural/security concerns. The plywood is also good at not warping, because the layers (the more the better) are fiber-crossed. I mean, for the sizes in the photo, I will use a thick plywood, which in turn may have say 7 or more layers.
Otherwise, these architectural elements can be made from lighter materials (i.e. hard-PVC, or even drywall).
For what it's worth, re-reading this post made me think if this method can be used for making nice ceilings, futuristic shapes out of slices of expanded polystyrene, then filled and painted.
But, anyways, yes, pirate's method is an usual scenario I also usefor making nice shapes - i used once this method to make a (simpler) sink out of hi-macs.
Yes, one can make equally distanced slice boards, and then intersect with model, then choose one of the intersections (top or bottom) for each slice, then reconstruct (push) each face again.
Slicer from TIG automates this, I will test it anyways because seems to give also some nice & creative outputs.
Thanks Jeff!
From the description, seems to be the right tool. I'll install it and keep posted. Thanks alot for the tip!
Hi folks, I searched and did not found yet, a plugin/method to create, from a given surface, individual elements to make the surface "discrete", in slices, like in the attached images. Such a plugin will ease a lot making molds, architectural shapes, from flat CNC-cut shapes. Thanks for helping me find a easier solution.
Sorry n8, lots of people are using it just fine. For the sake of receiving something worth hundreds of hours (= a free useful plugin), at least don't be an *&#%hole. A thankyou must be more appropiate. And some apologies, btw.
Hi Fredo, folks, thanks for this very useful plugin.
I am asking from a rendering perspective. And woodworking, where straight rectangular edges are very common.
I do have some ideas of improvement, user-interface and models, too. I really think this tool could be more friendly and more configurable, but my programming skills in Ruby are up to now, well - nil. So I would gladly jump into the development team with User Interface improvements and some functionality ideas. It was my intent some month ago (and still is if nobody wants), to fork the scripts and learn myself to program in Ruby. But I think things woulb be MUCH more better with somebody else on the scripting task
Seems that in SU2014 it is not working. Any plan to repair it/maintain anymore? Thanks.
Thanks TT! Will look into the resources, and bother you with some more questions, I am sure
Hi folks, I just want a little help in the right direction.
I want to improve an existing plugin, then re-release. I have some webdesign experience. Not any Ruby knowledge, but I can learn fast.
I need some good, plain, 101 tutorials and tips to start learning. Thanks in advance for your kind help!
He he, I didn't knew Text tool can move labels... Interesting. That solves I think de-cluttering.
And yes, sorting (and in most cases excluding the smallest dimension) is very useful and usual in cabinet making, where material has by itself a thickness (=the smallest dimension). I'll start playing with coding, that's my first attempt. I've wanted for so long to start playing with Ruby, didn't had the time, so that's a push for me to start eventually
Thanks for all, I'll post here my development of the situation
TIG, this tool is doing what I wanted, a text-callout/label with the name and the dimensions. Noticed that I can modify the code by getting rid of the x= etc., so it's almost what I wanted. It even creates these labels for multiple selected objects, all at once. That's excellent, however labels are so cluttered that I would want to move them, but the leader doesn't stick on the object's face, and I don't know how to solve this.
Moreover, when I want to label an furniture from behind, the text label often is not visible, being created behind the object...
Would very much love a custom "Text-label" with same behaviour as the standard one: to click whenever I see fit the object, in order to un-clutter the drawing.
If I can help with anything in solving this, please tell me. Thanks in advance.
Thanks TIG! I didn't experiment anything in Ruby yet, hope I will manage to do it this way. Still think though something related to the label tool will be more ergonomic, cause fits any situation of cluttering with other annotations.
That idea to "label" each piece is still a good thing. Will test and feedback. Thanks again for your excellent and time saving tools!
Hi all, could you please help me in finding, if there is, a faster method or plugin which will auto-complete a callout for an object, named group, not only with that name, but also with the dimensions of the group? I am modeling furniture and when passing my sketches to the workshop guys, dimensioning indications helps alot. Thanks!
By interaction I meant like the "Interact with Dynamic Component" Tool. Okay, sorry, I didn't read thoroughly that in the Pro version does exist that. That's excellent! Being able to post online the status of a project, and present it with an interactive navigation, is priceless and a very very effective presentation. BTW, I do not know any other tool doing that, and in such a simple way - really excellent work. I'll post here any new improvement idea it may arise, first of all I want to use Spread3D extensively to see its capabilities.
