Thanks Dave,
I did think that would the answer. It would be nice if mask did work on grouped entities draw in Layout, perhaps next version!
Thanks again for your super quick response.

Hello,
I have drawn some entities in layout over my inserted skup model to show gas/ electric/ foul runs etc. I would now like to make the same drawing but have the scale larger, I do this by adjusting the sketchup model and scaling the entities accordingly. I group entities and model together, alls good up to now. I would now like to mask out the part of the enlarged drawing that go over the page size. I can mask inserted drawings and pictures but can not mask out the entities drawn in Layout. So my question is, Is there a way to mask out grouped entities drawn in Layout? I hope the attached will explain more.
Hi Kaas,
Yes I have run into this, and it is very frustrating, You thing you are drawing accurately to find out you are not.
I have not tried using meters, but will try it now, if it improves things I will stick with meters.
Just tried this on the laptop with Chrome and all 31 models show up.
Back on main PC that shows only 16 models, Using Chrome, If I right click and select 'inspect elements'. from the context menu, which brings up a coding window at the bottom of the screen, all models show up. I have to do this every time to get all models to show up. Perhaps this is linked at an extension in Chrome!!
Using Chrome I see 16.
Using IE I see 31
I dont understand why this is.
In Chrome I have to hit the link to 'Render Plus Systems' to get the full collection of 109 models and there I can see all the trees. Or go to the collections tab and click on trees and still only 16 models displayed. As before I dont know why I can only see 16 with the first link, very odd!
Would 'Put on Layer' do the job?

Thank you Jeroen (skalp) for your email.
I have downloaded the updated plugin and things are looking to work better (version 1.0.0038), Unfortunately I have limited time to test this currently. I look forward to Skalps progression. Keep up the good work.
@JQL I have updated my profile. I am working on 2014
@rich I am working with Windows 7, my laptop is Windows 8 so hopeful will work ok, as is your experience. i will test and let you know.

Did you report the issue? I get no conflicts on my setup. But I'm sure there's more to gain by sharing the error.
To be honest I could not make much of Skalp work in its current form, so I did not know where to start, so I did not report anything. Once I get more time I will try again on a different computer and see the results. I think from their email, Skalp are aware of the problems and that are working towards correcting them. I look forward to the relaunch. Interesting you dont get any conflicts, are you on a MAC?
I too was pleased to get Skalp and wanted to use it in my current project. However I am on windows and its a no go for now (disappointing). I understand Skalp are working on the issues with the windows version and I eagerly wait a new working release. However I fear it will not be for some time yet.
Using; TIGs (excellent) Add Section cut face.
Interesting,
I can open this file in 2013 but get a bug splat in 2014, anyone else seeing this ?
I purchased Bonzai 3D when it first came out thinking it was the way to go. I have upgraded to version 2 and 3.2. I am sure Formz is a great program and was tempted to upgrade to Formz thinking it may iron out some of my gripes with Bonzai 3D but did not. I then discovered SU plugins that gave me all the capability I needed coupled with the easy base functions known within Sketchup and a community that can write code that can probably satisfy most users. I have not used Bonzai for any project yet and i can not see myself doing so. Sorry this was not a bitch or a gripe.
Thank you Rich and Dave,
You understood perfectly,
Issue solved with your help. The bit map is large and Layout just takes a few seconds to resize accurately.
Thank you again and for the quick response time.
Hi all,
I am trying to insert a bitmap of a building plan into layout.
I have PDF printed out from my CAD program and then converted to a bitmap. The quality is acceptable for inserting into Layout and re PDF printing from Layout.
My issue is, once I insert the bitmap I would like to scale it as I would do in sketchup. I currently have to pull and push the bitmap in the x and y directions to achieve this. I would just like to do it like in sketchup or type in a scale factor that I calculate. Have I missed something, can this be done?
Also I have tried to insert the bitmap into sketchup and scale it normally (quality of image is fine) and then inserting it into layout, quality set to high. But the quality is not good as it is with inserting the bitmap directly into Layout. It seems to be if you go through sketchup with a bitmap and insert into Layout you loose image quality.
Please can you help and advise if I am doing something wrong.
Now I have seen it! Thats great! thanks Dave and Timinder for raising the question.
you may have seen this in sketchup as object stick to each other . I have not seen this done in Layout.
Hi Aaron,
if I am part way through my design using build edge and I need to close sketchup. When I re start sketchup and continue with my design do I loose the functionality of buildedge? Does it commit to sketchup on closing in other words.

A question for you, Bruce. What would your expectation be for the way these corners get handled? They don't appear to be correctly done although I don't fault the tool. It appears that JPP did what it was asked to do.
%(#0000FF)[I would expect the plugin to at lease read my mind and perform the operation correctly. I agree its a difficult one. Perhaps various corner operations can be made as an option to the plugins. Its not until you stop and think of exactly what and how the operations performs that the complexity is revealed. My clients think that I just tap the keyboard a few times and the compute generates the building drawings.]

This seems more correct to me although the joint between the angled portions and the horizontal part, although correct for what JPP is supposed to do, is probably not the way it would be built in real life. The horizontal and angled surfaces have been extruded the same amount so to join them you would have to miter them at half the angle between which is exactly what JPP did.

Maybe this is better?
I expect that no matter what modifications were made to JPP or Shell, there'll always be geometry that will be problematic. There will always be some things that require the judgement of the user.
Agreed, I am just pleased that someone has thought about this more than i and provided a plugin that makes my life easier.
All the best
Thank you all for your replies.
For clarity I attach a similar object that I have experimented on using both plugins. I find that both achieve similar results. I have personally have spend hours of frustrated time trying to enclose such objects, although slightly more complex. I hope that further work can be done on such tools to perfect them. As you will see there is work still to be done on cleaning up the object but this is far better then the method I am currently using.
I also tested this in Bonzai ( I hope you dont mind me mentioning this) with there thicken tool. I tested it to see if the operation could be successful achieved. Like allot of the original hype for this program, this also did not achieve the exact operation as desired.
So which gets the donation.... Shell. not for any particular reason as both are very good plugins and do likewise operations. But only for the fact that I have just donated Fredo for ThruPaint. The value in Sketchup is in the plugins and this forum.
Thank you all.
Thank you Box.
I will investigate your solution. Thank you
