Tigs 2D tools is very good thank you.

Using Tigs 2D tools it looks like every line is a group with individual lines. so I can see how this may bloat the file size.

Using profile builder every single segment of the line is a component therefore hopefully this will reduce the bloat.

    • Custom lines

For a long time now I have wanted an option to make custom lines within sketchup. This is for general 2D construction plans much in the same way CAD has. Custom lines can indicate many things on a drawn plan that the builder can easily recognize.

My solution (its not perfect I know) to this was to use Profile Builder 2, Assembler Dialog. I made components of single lines and sting them together using the assembler.

Once the line is drawn you can customize the line as desired by opening the lines component and editing it. You do need to have some idea of what scale the finished line will be printed thou.

I attached initial examples should it be of use to anyone.

    • RE: [Plugin] GreyscaleMode

      Hi All,

I would like to try this plugin.
I can not find a paid version of this plugin. any pointers please. Happy to pay for it.

I have downloaded a free version off Smustard. I am working in SK UP 2016

Where do I put the file contained within the Zip file. I have a jf_tools folder, jf_tools.rb, and greyscales.rbs files.

      I have tried.
      C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2016\SketchUp\Plugins
      and
      C:\Users\Bruce\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2016\SketchUp\Plugins

      but get errors on loading Sketchup;

      Error: #<NameError: uninitialized constant JF>
      c:/users/bruce/appdata/roaming/sketchup/sketchup 2016/sketchup/plugins/greyscale.rbs:22:in <main>' SketchUp:1:in eval'

There is not any .rbz file to install under the normal way through sketchup- windows menu- preferences etc etc

      Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your advice and the link! However, is it possible to realise with the standard tools?

      Hi Joe,

I was once resistant to using plugin and exclaimed "why can I not do this simple thing straight out of the box". Once I spent a few minutes working out how to install plugins i did not look back. With the Plugin Store and extension warehouse this could not be easier. I would recommend to give it a go and before you know it you will have more tools than you can shake a stick at.

Will 'Weld' do it for you.

Go to SketchUcation plugin store and type 'weld' into the search box for the plugin extension.

yes you would think so, The check box does not seem to make any difference here. (However shadows is working currently)

      Use sun

      No use sun

What is this check box for anyway?

      ok something is definitively screwy.

I have turned off "Use hardware acceleration" and I have shadow back again and "on faces" box is now select-able again.

Saved file and reopened again, shadows are very slow. Selected "Use hardware acceleration" and again to turn on, saved file and close.

Reopened file and all is well again. odd, perhaps it is the windows 10, but I dont know.

      Thank for your help.

    • Division along a curved path

I am trying to position vertical window mullions along a horizontal curved path. Therefore mullions need to be spaced equidistant long the curved path and rotated 90 degrees tangent to the curved part each mullion is positioned at.

I can do this manually but wonder if there is a extension that would do it better.
Apologies as I am sure this question has been asked before. Is there a plugin / extension that does this?

    • RE: Profile builder 2 (Expiry problems)

      Thanks Tig,

Well not sure what I have done but I have profile builder 2 (PB2) working again with Skup operating as normal.

What did I do... well not sure really, however when I reinstalled Skup on Windows 8.1 some weeks ago now, I think I must has install PB2 from a different Extension Warehouse account and then I transferred my assemblies across to the library folded within PB2. I thought I was working with the paid version but was not and yes it did screw things up within Skup when PB2 expired.

I found a old email from the extension warehouse advising not to store assembles within the aforementioned folder which I was.( not sure if that relevant to my issue)

I deleted the .rb and BP2 folder, ( well moved it out of the way somewhere else) logged onto the other warehouse account, the one I purchased it from and installed it and all looks to be ok ( I had to reset all tool bars for this process). I have moved my assembles else where as instructed. so I think everything is working again.

It was strange how it screwed up Skup though.

      Thanks again Dr Tig.

Thanks Tig, ( I think that should be 'Dr Tig')

I will work through your list of possible issues and report back. ( I can not access any menus within SKup to turn off profile builder 2, however when I manually remove the .rb file Skup works fine.) Thank you for your help so far.

    • Profile builder 2 (Expiry problems)

      help!
      Hi ,

I have profile builder 2 (purchased), ( great plugin) I have upgraded to windows 8.1 recently and have not had any issues with it, apart from the normal teething problem as I get used to it all.

SK was working well yesterday. This morning I get the massage that 'The trial period for Profile Builder 2 has expired'. I click ok and from that point on wards none of my other plugings load up and I can not get control of the screed, I am locked out of doing anything apart from changing styles. I get some odd flashing of the scenes dialog box as well as the components dialog box. I have to force it to close.

Any one see this before and can instruct me what to do?

    • Dashed Lines / custom lines

      Hi,

I am looking for a plugin ( sorry, extension) that does Dashed Lines for sectional work. I came across DashedLines from Todd Burch which looks the business, although I have not tried it yet, from a search in a previous post. ('Pen tool-guild draw' works well but is restricted to single dashed line type, as does 'convert to construction line' (also 2D tools is good but does not lengthen the dashes it widens them from what I could see and I have to have textures on)) (Smustard.com to purchase) Before I purchase it, does any one know if this works ok with SU 2015 pro? Can I install it in the traditional way without me having to re position all my tool bars? ( it not in the warehouse or the very loved 'Plugin Store') While I am asking, is there any other plugin that would work for me?

    • RE: Clipping plane needs a fix!

      @deadtaco said:

The only way to fix the clipping issue is to zoom way out and then switch to parallel projection for your camera. Now you'll be able to zoom back in without clipping. Turning off layers/hiding objects has zero effect on the clipping plane issue. The only way to fix it is to completely remove all objects on those layers.

I set my F12 key to be my switch between parallel and perspective camera views and it's helpful.

I was just having the same problem and the above fixed my issue, thank you
