    • RE: All these renderers look so damn good

Every day I'm learning something new, recently I started to work in an Architect's office where they use to do very large projects, and I found that those file's projects are very dificult to handle in Sketchup, they use to do their 3d Models in Autocad, so I tryed to make a rendering with SketchUp, and the first problem was that it was very hard to import very large files into SketchUp, then they ask me to find a software to make the renderings, so I used Vue, and that was ok, and I may buy a software for interior renderings that can make renderings from SketchUp, and from 3DS Max, because I use SketchUp for my projects and 3ds Max for their Projects (Those large projects)

In my case, the software i'm sure I'm going to buy is Thea Render, it has plugins for Sketchup and 3ds Max.

I own some of the render engines out there for SketchUp, like IRender, Podium, Twilight, and I have used all of them, for different situations, and different clients.

For me all of them are very good.

      Hi,
well, i know quite a lot of people complaining about crashes in Vue, but anyway, if i understand your post correctly, why to change the dummies? Why not to use the Vue trees directly using excellent Vue ecosystem? You can spray them on terrain or use editor.
Not sure thats what you wanted to hear πŸ˜„ Anyway, let me know πŸ˜„
      Ailig

You can make an ecosystem, with one or more plants or Vue objects.

    • RE: Does anyone knows which software is used for these images?

I would like to make a coment about the price of those renderings.

Here where I live, in the most violent city in the planet, people working as a freelance make renderings at the price of $50 US dollars, and those renderings are posted on panoramic advetisings panles.

The main reason is, the piracy, a lot of people never would buy or pay a dollar for a good model (trees, furnitures, sky), so they would never pay $1000 US dollars for a legal copy of a fine software.

I meet someone in a forum of a NPR rendering software, and I knew some one who call him self freelance, and he uses a Illegal copy of the software, I don't understand how? after geting money from that software (because is a freelance) can't pay for a legal copy?.

In most of the forums of rendering software, they allow every body to join, and there at the forums, people who uses ilegal copies, learn how to make good renderings, or found support from the other members at the forums. I don't understand why?

      Well these are my thoughts.

    • Question about Models

Hi, does anybody knows if the evermotion's models can be imported in to SketchUp? I need to make a interior rendering with Twilight, and I may buy some Evermotion's models if they can be imported in to Sketchup.

What other models comany with high quality like Evermotion, Dosch Design are available?

      Thanks

I'm not usually attracted to shiny objects but the other day I saw the Intuous4 at Staples and got to wondering how well it works with SketchUp. Does anyone have any experience with one of these things? Is it better than working with a mouse? I'm a lefty so I guess I'd be doing a lot of those things I've been doing with my right hand and the mouse on the opposite side. Seems like a good thing in some respects since I tend to use the number keypad a lot so I go back and forth between mouse and keyboard.

      Comments?

I think You may find more useful the 3dspace navigator, and they have some other 3d mouse you may like.

i'm sorry, my post should have read "why would you want IRender if you have Twilight anyway?" but i was just clowning around, i didn't mean to offend anyone or any software.

      Please accept my apologies. 😳

Hi, I have both Irender and Twilight, and for me I use and I "need" both, why? Irender is very very fast, and I use when I have to make a presentation with too many renderings for the next day or so, Irender has very good quality, very useful features, I use Irender for animations too,is easy to make animations with I render, and Twilight, I have some clients that know a little of renderings (some friends that are architects too) and they want unbiased renderings, and I use Twilight for thatis very easy to use, but unbiased renderings takes more time.

So I completely understand when some one has both rendering engines.

    • RE: Rendering Software

Well I'm not an experienced in the rendering area, but this is how I use to work, I'm an Architect I have two kinds of clients, those to who I use to make projects, and those (friends) who have seen my renderings and ask me for their projects. I supposed not be a freelance, but I'm becoming.

Here where I live (mexico) there are very small projects, perfect for a render like Irender, that is fast and good. I own Irender and it has very good features, is very easy to make an animation, has a plug in for Archvision's RPC.Very usefull.

I have Twilight, and is amazing!!. Very good and very easy to use, as I said I'm not experienced, and when I bought it, I realized that it was very good for the price, so that was the reason I started seeking a software with that quality but faster. I use Twilight for bigger projects, when I have time to do it.

bravoddb, I cannot in all fairness tell you my preferences as that will be seen as an endorsement, however there is no render engine out at the moment that is best for everything.
I use Podium, Vray for Max, Twilight, and Vue, I use different engines for different types of jobs, they all have their advantages as well as their disadvantages.

I'm getting crazy, and the worst thing is I'm loving it, I'm about to buy another, but I don't want to face that after I buy it, I will buy another.

      Thanks

Maxwell: very slow, great quality, not cheap. (exporter sucks)
Brazil: not cheap, good quality, not bad speed (3rd party app needed)

      Solo

Would you give us your prefference in order? one list for speed and another list for quality

So I can understand it, with my short experience with the trials, so I can have a better idea to choose.

      Thanks

You can only choose 2 of the three:

      1. Fast

      2. Cheap

      3. Quality

Let me know and I'll direct you to the renderer based on your choices.

Give one choice for Fast, and another choice for quality, I own Irender and is faster, the quality is not bad, but I preffer something with quality of those I mentioned.

      What about Maxwell Render, Brazil

I Own Vue, and for me is enough for exterior renderings, but I want womething for interiors.

      Thanks.

    • Rendering Software

Hi,I'm looking to buy a good rendering software, and I have some, but I need some expert advise.

Wich of these software is faster?
      Indigo
      V-Ray
      Twilight

I found the quality is almost the same, in my point of view, I own Twilight, and I tryed for a very short time Indigo and V-ray, and I don't see much difference.

For me Twilight is very good and easy to use, very good material libraries, but it takes a lot of time. (some times a very good 5hrs) Some times I need to make it quicker than that. But if the difference is going to be just 30minutes below, I would think twice, just for the price.

May be the others (Indigo and V-Ray)are a little harder to use, but if they are faster, I may go for one of those.
Or if you can suggest other with the kind of quality, please letme know.

Hi I would like to know if there is a way to import a cad file (dwg or Dxf) that contains important text?

      Thanks

If you have AutoCAD you can explode the text into lines, then import that... BUT text is not importable - I have an embryonic tool to take the text out of a dxf file and then bring it into SUp with the text as my '2D Text' 'flat' text_like_compos... however, don't hold your breath - it's a looong way off...

What's the name of that tool?

    • RE: My wish List

The styles I think don't work properly is at least wide marker lines, when I try to use in raster mode it appears a black line across the drawing, the same in Hybrid, I had to change it to another style to make it work in vector mode.

About number eight if you want to share something in private here: bravoddb@hotmail.com

I can remember I was working on a construction company where we used to keep every thing in dwg files for the future we said, but now if we want to open an old dwg file will not be possible, so right now, I preffer a software like SketchUp that makes a good job, I meant excelent job, than a software that makes a good job, for the same price but multiplyed by 10; I did some good presentation drawings in SketchUp, and also good construction drawings, If want to make it faster, mm I will buy DoubleCad I can open a SketchUp file and make sections with it, and use elevations and plan viewsWhat else can I need?. If I keep my files for at leats 2 to 3 years, I don't tink I'm going to use them anymore. but I can keep pdf files of them longer.

    • My wish List

      My wish list is:

      1.-Hatch patterns (vector)
2.- Line width and type related by the drwaing scale, or line scale patern according to the Layout scale
3.- Ability to use the same STYLE used in model in to the title block or Layout, make hand rendering or so the block from scrapbook and titleblock
4.- Ability to use any complex style from SketchUp for any pourpose, like parallel plans. Now some complex styles don't work in ortho properly.
5.- Ability to import dwg files (If so, this may be the begining of the end of Autocad use for most of the people who has to use both now).
6.- Use of dimensions in Layout.
      7.- Curved leaders.
8.- Never sell SketchUp and all its components to Autodesk, from all the years I have seen the good software, like Softdesk, LightScape and more ended being sold to Autodesk.
