Do us all a favour and learn how to use the basics of the software.
It isn't possible to explain to you how to do what you want because you don't understand what you are doing.
Learn from the many tutorials, draw some simple models then draw some more difficult ones then slightly more complex again etc etc
Get a grip of the tools you are using and stop bashing away at it blindly.
People will gladly help when they see that it is possible to help.

You don't need shift if you want the whole thing. As I said, a triple click will open and select all, or if already open for editing a triple will again select all.

You need a triple click, double opens it and the third selects it.
But a double then a single will only select that part you click on.
If the whole component turns blue it is selected, if only parts of it turn blue they are the bits that will move.

The simple answer to your many questions is, watch some videos, learn about SU, make a few models and then ask some questions.

Learn a bit about the program before you start asking endless questions. and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

So many posts, and too many nice people. Get off your arse and learn something.

    • RE: Some of my Latest, Shipping Containers

Yes, I agree and know many of the ones you will find via google. I also spend a lot of my working life in a variety of them. I've been in ones set up as, Office, washroom, kitchen, hotel, workshop, general store, sandblasting unit etc etc

My only issue with it all is that once you start changing the container structurally you run into problems. The structural integrity of the containers is in the corners, so to shorten one you must cut off the end and move it. You can't just cut it to length, I'm sure you know that, just pointing it out for others.

I think you'll find guys, that the reasoning behind using containers is that there are lots of spare cheap ones lying about and to reuse them as a building product makes good recycling sense.
Where the idea falls down is when you have to modify the structure of the container to fit your space. Cutting and welding one isn't as easy as it sounds and using the components individually makes more sense, but as I said, the original idea is to recycle the containers.
When you start looking at having the container manufacturers manufacture bits for you to make buildings from, you are simply moving into prefab/kit construction arena. It's a nice idea, but it's not really about working with pre-existing materials.

I'm not sure where Mistro's concept fits into all this either. Is it a building made from containers because they are the building product of choice or is it more of a lets use containers because it's in at the moment. I don't mean that critically, it's just a question.

They look very nice, but I'm confused by the dimensions.
I don't understand how you have used the containers, the standard 8' x 8' x 20'(40') doesn't seem to fit with your description.
Perhaps another image highlighting the structural element of the containers would help me, and possibly your client.

Don't ignore the one that Tig mentioned in his first post of this thread, check your screen resolution and position.
Windows can disappear off to the side, top or bottom if you have ever had more than one screen connected.

    • RE: Why so difficult to install plugins?

I'm guessing you're on a Mac, usual problem, find the correct plug in folder.
Or I'm not certain of the file or plug in you are using, I don't feel the need to look too hard, but one thread relating to it has some rather big names in plugins saying it sort of doesn't work, and then nothing more. I might just be that the plug in you want has been developed under a different name or the paranoid police have moved it to a different menu section.
Many new tools/ plug ins appear where you least expect them, until you think about it.
Check the various menus, not just plugins.
Also, only read this if your alcohol level is well over old age.

Edit: as pointed out below and many many times on this forum, read the first post in a plug in thread properly.
And always check the reality of the situation, be it plug ins or women.

    • RE: Sketchup Model issues

I don't really understand the logic of coming to a forum that specialises in Sketchup and in your first post basically say "you are all using bad software, but that's not your fault really, you probably don't know any better or can't afford something that works." Then, "can you help me get something from it so I can use it in my wonderful and obviously superior software."

Don't worry, most people here are very friendly and helpful and will choose not to notice your less than impressed feelings about the software and will help you out.
I on the other hand will pop round to your place tonight for dinner, but, as I'm sure we all know, your cooking isn't up to much so I will bring my own chef and cooking utensils, can you be sure to have all the right ingredients in the fridge.
