OK, I just swapped my backup folder of Plugins from my original SketchUp install. All is working fine on that model I posted.
So... there is a conflicting plugin somewhere...

I'm having horrible luck with the solids tools. Dell Precision M6400, Vista. SketchUp Pro 8, latest official release.
What i've found is that if i have solid components with multiple copies or that may have been scaled - and I perform a solid tools operation - SketchUp will crash.
I've also found that if the component axis is rotated in space (such as a rafter) - this will force a crash. If I explode and re-create the component using the default axis, I get hit and miss crashes.
The only way I've been able to continue to use the solid tools is to explode and create a group. This keeps the axis in the same orientation as the model axis, and things seem to run OK.
Not sure if this helps. Attached is a model - the red timbers are components - they force a crash on my machine. The blue timbers are groups. They work fine.
I can shoot a video if needed...

Obsessive compulsive over your vehicle? Somehow it's hard for me to get that way over my Toyota Tundra plain Jane, but if you need new digs for that beauty you own then check out the Maserati garage design competition.
Small world, I've done work on several other projects with the architect who did the tent / garage for the red Mini!
skin on frame kayaks... someday i'd like to build and paddle one.

Mixing it up a little.
Warton Esherick was an artist who worked primarily in wooden sculpture. His home/studio at Valley Forge in Paoli Pennsylvania blurs the line between art and architecture. It touches me, because I think it would be a dream most creative people would like to fulfill, being able to put such expression into the space where we live and work.
Been to the studio and home. Its a pretty amazing little place.
As a woodworker and timber frame designer (homes and commercial) - the whimsical and 'hands on' nature of his work inspired my formative years in the trade.

Sitting on a highly prominent location overlooking the city of Santo Domingo in Colombia is the Biblioteca Parque Espana, designed by Giancarlo Mazzanti. http://www.giancarlomazzanti.com/
nice... some other nice work in the portfolio too.
I guess some of it depends on if you want vector art or raster...

I'm not much of a motorhead... but this stuff is pretty incredible - steampunk / art / sci-fi:

I just updated, luckily I saved a copy of the plugins folder because it replaced it with the basic one. So all is back to normal.
It shouldn't have...
Updated just fine here and my Plugins were intact...
Nice. Thanks for the vid!
i'm partial to moving about on 2 wheels, year round...
fat tires for float
studded tires for ice
but our 4 wheeled steed has some all season nokians that i've been impressed with.
in my bachelor days i had a 2 wheel drive truck. lots of sandbags in the rear for when i moved to snow country.
i eventually picked up a subaru with all wheel drive. added some snows and it could get me everywhere i needed to go - hike, ski, etc. ground clearance was an issue...
orbited slowly @ 100,000.
almost made a 100k selection.
and then 'sketchup has stopped working'.
!!
no 200k for me.
100,000
pretty slow... to even snag a screen pic.
dell m6400. not exactly a high horsepower machine.
i did explode the original and made a new component with 'face camera' off.
That video is for a plug in called 'driving dimensions'. It has little to do with how the scale tool works.
