That's true. 2016 is just running 98% perfectly for me on Linux. 2020 has gold rating on Wine compat. layer. I have to try on my Win8 lap. how 2017 feels.

RE: Painfull Snapping 2016 to 2017
Well that's sad. I feel so sharp and easy drawing on 2016. Just sticking to 2016.

Painfull Snapping 2016 to 2017
Did the snapping behavior change somehow when SU moved from 2016 to 2017? Is it same on 2020?
Midpoint snapping is usually showing just a square. Not the blue dot? Well, randomly yes. Snapping seems to have very random behavior now?Perhaps it's just because I'm running SU on Linux?

RE: 360 animation with Circular Camera Extension
Very nice! It was easy to make eight compass point views, scenes: Images folder, set center point, set start view. Edit config: Duration 8s, FPS 1.

Easy - 3D Flower Of Life - No Plugins
Next level from this is: How to "carve out" more forms for petals, center. Perhaps same start with one full 3D, open ends petal, rotate copies? Trying to avoid inner faces. Or afterwards with plugins like Round Corner? Here I tried to keep the thing sturdy enough for a 3D printer.

RE: Wrist & Elbow Problems
I have here one cheap drawing tablet. First try: I don't know if this is easier or clumsier. This thing with SU needs some practising. Perhaps the cursor speed which I use with Inkscape is too slow.

RE: Wrist & Elbow Problems
I will try to adjust at least the mouse scroll wheel; faster... Scrolling feels now most irritating.

Wrist & Elbow Problems
Too much sports & 3D sketching in bad position has made elbow, wrist, finger problems for me. I wonder what is a correct elbow / wrist position?
I found a exercise which helps a lot and now done with two hands I call it "A Bat From Wuhan" (this hard time & how you look when doing it). http://www.healthline.com/health/fitness-exercise/cubital-tunnel-syndrome-exercises#6 Exercise number 4 on the page.
Already I have recovered a lot from the "numbness" and lately I've been doing light woodworking projects and "left handed" video editing:

RE: Best import formats to SketchUp
For me it's Collada dae. Using Blender I can convert .svg to .dae and bring it to SketchUp with good results.

Old Time Gearing - 3D Print Design
This is a poor man's detour from scalable vector graphics to other file format and Sketchup.
I still feel more relaxed when sketching on Sketchup than on many other CAD.
Thanks to Dr. Rainer Hessmer and his free online Lantern Gear Builder. -

Thanks! Just some real world dimensions are missing, but... some easy to follow & learn movements.

Euler Spiral Heart 2D 3D - Mom's Day Extrude Tools Study
Beautiful 2D heart shape using Curve Maker plug-in's Euler spiral. Certainly also nice to make window grills etc. http://www.mathematische-basteleien.de/heart.htm (go a little bit down). Trying Extrude Tools to form a 3D heart. Using also Curvizar to weld curves. I bought the flowers.

RE: Has SU improved handling High poly models?
Perhaps mesh simplifying in MeshLab helps and does not do much deformation (or almost at all)? Free & easy if the object has no holes (If I remember correctly the manifold has to be closed). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_r-cT2jngk

RE: Components and groups when 3d printing parts
I have printed multiple shells succesfully. Perhaps it's a slicer, printing software question? But someone:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHKXXLI0vgQ. Perhaps no problems if there is no intersections (bad)?

RE: Merging Solids into World Piece
It's good practice to save & send .skp using some older version, even SU8. Online SU: Hnggggh. Cannot open.

RE: STL Question
A little bit late answer and I'm not sure if I understood the question correctly. But make a square and lay the wings over it. Intersect & clean. A lot of work perhaps. Works if the bottom of the wings is flat enough.
