hi everybody,
does anybody know a tool, which can turn a form around a line to get a volume, without drawing the circular path?
i tried to show it in a sketch attached....
and :
has anybody seen a tool, which is able to draw a volume directly (start: radius 1 / middle : radius 2) like in the example at the bottom of my sketch?

one for the wishlist:
a shadow override function, so regardless of scene setting saved per scene
shadow can be switched on and off for working in scenes and saving pictures and videos.

TURNS the selected profile around along the path
is there a script, which is able to draw an extruded profile in a continuous angle (like the original) ?
so with a rectangle a continuous ramp would be drawn?

hi, i need a tip:
when i want to define the axis system by x,y,z and i have only 1 line in space (free angles in all directions)
AND i would like to define the BLUE axis to be the vector of the line, i simply can't get it, since the blue axis is not available for the first click.
am i wrong?
is there a shortcut for changing the first axis to be defined (rotation) ?

hi, yes , the thomthom - tool in quadfacetool does exactly , what i needen now.
the next search is an intelligent "follow-path" tool, i will start another topic for that

I just tested it on your faced version [it needs the faces!] and I selected the spiraling edges quite easily...

thank you, i will check this. for my job the plugin must be a sort of intelligent to be able to decide, which direction the string goes, it's rather tricky. because of the geometry of a spiral a simple selection by rectangle or anything else does not work.

i am looking for a really special function.
please imagine a mesh , even turned in 3d-somehow, where you switch off all softening and can see the mesh as a grid of lines in 3d. with the selector one can delete the planes, so only a line grid remains....
now, i would like to pick up ONE line going from 1 end of the mesh grid to the other.
my mesh is 500 m high, a spiral and it is absolutely impossible to do that by hand.
so, is there a ruby, which is able to pick up one "string" of a mesh from start to end?
this would help a lot...

has anybody a skp-ruby-script, which is able to smooth a polyline (circle / ellipse of edges) inserting more edges by interpolation while keeping the geometric form?
i have sections threw a cylinder ( = ellipses of certain amount of edges, no radius), which i would like to make smoother for further boolean operations.

hello everybody,
in my sketchup the "styles-window" is not visible anymore (switching on/of in the window menue does not effect it).
even hiding and making visible again (window>hide dialogs) does not help.
in the window-menue it is marked as visible, but it is not on both of my screens.
so it is probably somewhere "outside" of the screens.
is there a way to reset the position of those windows in sketchup? any idea?
opening sketchup / new file : no effect
opening old projects : no effect
opening sketchup 2 x on 2 screens : no effect
all other "windows" like layer / fog etc work well.
please help!

hi, thanx a lot,
i used this method for a long time, until i found a great script (ruby) exporting only active scenes (scene setting > video on) and giving the jpg's it's scene-name ( very helpfull with 200 different views printed etc. for some sorting etc.)
but right today i found this problem with the fixed text (which is helpfull for sinple logo-infos) not working in this script somehow.
anyway, we keep on looking for a way..

hello everybody,
i already tried some ruby-scripts for a batch-jpg-export of the scenes, but all of them does not respect the "view-based" text type.
does anybody know a script, which:
-only export the active scenes (scene manager including)
-use the particular setting of each scene (shadow etc.)
-shows correctly the "view-based" text
-uses the name of the scene for the export - name of each jpg
-eventually gives you an opportunity for fixing the jpg-settings, like width/length
-eventually creates a new folder for he jpg's in the active project folder of the skp-file
any other nice ideas?
