    • RE: Texture change position when ungroup

Well I paint the faces not the wrapper always. I found that it occurs when I use the pain bucket inside the group and don't move the texture. Then when I ungroup it changes, and the faces that i have manually positioned the texture stay correct.

It is not a huge problem but makes me ungroup before texture it. I have to change to 2015 anyway.

      Thanks for the reply Dave.

      texture change position when ungroup.

When it is inside a component a change a texture position, using the OEM tool, when explode the component some textures change position a little, but enough to ruin my work.

fantastic as always. Thank you slbaumgartner and sdmitch. The flip all x works perfectly! The sdmitch code already was great. This forum is always great.

I will make a simple free plug-in to help road build, and share here when it is ready.

    • Multiple flip in component red axis

Hello people. Trying to make a simple plug-in for a specific purpose but cant find the command.

When I right click a component it appears Flip>Flip component red axis, but when I selected multiple it flip all together not individually. I am clear? I think not. Anyway, if someone can point me the command line that do that maybe I can make the simple plug-in.

      Or maybe already exist one.

The use, is: If I have a LOT of cars ( components ), with different rotations and i just want to reverse the cars direction, i have to do individually.

      Thanks.

On the other side people are worried that if Brazil does lose that it will make the people even more mad and could result in widespread violence and even an end to the tournament.
I do look forward to and hope for a Spain vs Brazil knockout game.

Maybe But I don't think will happen. Police is well organized and violence is mainly made by some small groups. If Brazil looses will be big riots but non violent, I hope.

    • RE: World cup 2014

Here on Brazil a lot of people ( I think 10 - 20% ) want Brazil team be defeated. All because of politics, we really hate our president, and some believe that the team loosing can make her loose some votes.

Here people saying very politely "hey Dilma go f*** yourself" Yes we are a very polite people πŸ’š

but the games are really good. Spain looses so bad.

I believe there is a niche for something that appears intuitive, easy to use, (dare I say it, fun) yet can be so powerful at the same time. A sketchup on steroids. A software that actually develops and evolves over time, taking full advantage of the power your computer can offer.

      Ahhh.... PlusSpec?

yeah, that is why I think we need "only" for now, is a better engine under the hood of sketchup. All the rest can be done with plugins.

ohh and the three.js is fantastic. I have make some 3d stuff with canvas in javascript last year, is cool and very powerful.

But sketchup will always be a great modeler. I don't think in one size fits all, we are actually going to the opposite direction. today is extremely simple to import 3d between software, I remember the difficulty to export a model from sketchup to 3dstudio 6-7 years ago.

I understand exactly what you mean olishea. I feel that too.

In sketchup 2014 one thing that surprise me is the shadows improvements, making it 15x faster, it's the kind of background improvement that don't change anything for beginners but make all the difference, before I use a rule to only turn shadows ON to test, never used it on drawing. Now you can.

2014 also gets less bug splash. All I can ask ( for now ) is the same as you. LARGE MODELS, better frame rate, faster copy etc. I think it need a better engine under the hood. These changes is very core stuff, but is perfectly achievable.

But the way it looks and the way it is used maybe don't need to changed, its is "perfect" for beginners and very customized for advanced users.

Maybe trimblers can say whats been cooked in Boulder for us. 2015 is near. 😎

    • Frame rate - fps in loose geometry versus components

I am obsessed about frames per second, πŸ€“

So i found a very strange situation, most you guys probably know it. But I did not.

I made some tests with the Test.time_display

The 4 images have the exact same geometry, same number of faces and same number of edges. The only difference is the components or groups.

The first is only loose geometry - 7.9fps
the second every box is a component (10201 components) - 1.4fps
the third every line is a component with 100 boxes inside (101 components ) - 11.2fps
the four every box is a component and every line also is a componente (10302 comp ) - 1.4fps

so I think sketchup takes a lot of time to open one instance and see its properties ( scale position etc ) so it's better have fewer components with more geometry inside for optimum frames per second. Of course its only need for very big models.

      that's fun and impressive.

      Very different objectives and capabilities.

      About frame rate:
I actually test the same object ( BIG ONE) in Sketchup and Blender and the blender advantage in framerate was very small. Kind disappointing. Don't know if is my computer but I was expecting a enormous advantage.
