Does it necessary to uninstall previous version of the Beta ?
      If yes how ?

There is no NΒ° of version on the window box so it's difficult to see if we are using the lastest version!

There is no video tutorial of the beta version ?

DOes it possible to create a hole in the floor during the processus ?

      Hi Pilou,

Thanks for the questions! Let me answer one at a time:

You do NOT have to uninstall before installing this version. In fact, the new installer will remove old files and install overtop of the old software, so PLEASE do install over the old software.

The version of the software can be found in the Extensions tab of the Preferences dialog. If you go there and click on BuildEdge PLAN in the list, it will display the version number. The versions for this release are:

      • Windows - 2.0 Beta 2 272
      • Mac - 2.0 Beta 2 113

There is a video walkthrough of 2.0 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpNOFtlyY-M

Sorry... no openings in floor (yet πŸ˜‰ ). to create a hole in the floor, you can break the floor into multiple pieces, with a gap between.

Thanks again for the questions, and thanks for using PLAN!

    • RE: NEW BuildEdge PLAN 2.0 Beta

      it's worth mentioning anyway, Andrew!

The newest version of the installer will clean out the previous version, so you can just run it over top of your old software. If you have a licensed installation (i.e. you paid for PLAN at some point in the past) it will not affect your security at all, and you will be able to run software after the Beta period has expired.

Please download a copy and let me know what you all think!

      Thanks!

      Hi Aaron

I've just downloaded the Open Beta Version and was having a ply around with layouts etc.

      Excellent piece of software !

I've probably done something I wasn't meant to and ended up with strange results.
I created a simple wall layout, Selected the whole layout ( probably should've grouped it !) and then moved the layout both up and along the axes. Some walls get left behind - and others get flipped about - see attached pix.

Like I said its probably misuse at my end but thought I'd mention it

      CTMan

      Hi CT!

BuildEdge PLAN entities cannot be grouped or moved in a group until after you commit the entities. The issue is with the data that buildEdge hold about those entities. The ideal way to work is to complete your BuildEdge PLAN model, then commit it to SketchUp, and then move it around. If you are still having a problem with starting PLAN up again, let me know and I can get you in touch with our help desk. Brendon should be able to get you up and running again.

      Thanks!

      Hi all,

There are definitely a few issues in this release of the software. There is a general instability that we have tracked down and are fixing. I hope to release that very shortly.

Also, there is an issue with moving from BuildEdge PLAN 1.0 to this beta causes issues with the settings files. Moving back and forth between versions causes PLAN to not load.

Both of these issues should be fixed and released very soon (hopefully the first part of this week).

Keep an eye out for that update!

      Thanks!

I have noticed that when I commit to SU or explode the BE geometry it will crash once I envoke BE again

      Hi Paul,

Brendon should be back in touch with you today!

I've just started playing with the Beta and have a couple of quick questions.
Is there anyway to snap new windows and doors to existing Sketchup endpoints?
I don't seem to be able to create a ground floor only second and higher. Is this normal?
Thanks so much for all the work.
      Elliot

      I Elliot,

Unfortunately, there is no snap (yet) in door and window input.
I am a little confused about your "Ground Floor" input. Do you mean you are trying to draw a floor on top of nothing? The floor entities were designed to be drawn on top of walls, so that may be your issue, though in the next version, connectivity has been modified, and you may be able to do what you are asking about.

Hopefully I will be posting that version in the VERY near future!

      Thanks!

      Hi guys,

Thanks for the notes! I am always looking for additional functionality for future versions. Round was is definitely on the list (not sure when it will be in the software, but it is on the list!).

I wanted to post real quick and let you know that I will be posting a new, more stable version later this week.

You all were able to shine light on some stability issues that we had not run into in house. For that THANK YOU!

Keep an eye out for an updated download link!

      Hi Matt,

That is odd! Are you seeing it consistently, or is it only on specific jobs? Have you tried using the Pick Wall command to input (click the little down arrow below the draw icon to switch input modes). Just wondering if that works for line input.

Let me know, and I can see how we can look into what is going on...

      Thanks!

Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to get it to open. I have the latest version of SU loaded and have followed your instructions for loading v2 of BuildEdge. The icon appears in SU but nothing happens when I click on it.

      Any ideas?

      That all looks great,

      Roofs
Can we have a clear definition at to what is the difference between rafter and truss. Also board width ( which I think this is a sarking board in my part of the world). Heel height ( is this the depth of the birds mouth that is cut into the rafter or a reference to the depth of the fascia board?) How do I set a rafter depth? If these could be pictorially represented within the manual and/or the buildedge properties box that would be great.

love the walls, doors and window feature.

      keep up the good work

      Hi Bruce,

Truss versus rafter is all about the heel (where the roof meets the wall). Below is an excerpt of our online help (I am remote right now, so this is the best I can do right now). I will try to draw up a quick heel for both with more detail later today.

      Windows 7 64bit professional
      500gb hd
      4gb ram
      4 core processor
      on board graphics

Sorry to hear this! We are experiencing some issues with stability on certain machine, and would LVOE to look at your installation to see if it will help us make PLAN more stable. Have you been in touch with our Help Desk? If you log a ticket, Brendon should be able to get you up and running, or, at the very least, find the issue that is causing the crash, so we can fix it before the release.

Thank you for trying PLAN, and I hope that we can get you up and running, so we can hear what you think!

    • NEW BuildEdge PLAN 2.0 Beta

      NEW VERSION AVAILABLE!!

The new version is far more stable that the previous, and includes many improvements and enhanced functionality!

For those of you who are not aware, BuildEdge PLAN allows you to model three dimensions buildings that are parametrically connected right inside of SketchUp!

Version 2.0 builds upon the capabilities of the initial release with:

      • Enhanced roof input tools
      • Door and window input and editing
      • Floor input
      • Advanced connectivity

      ...and more!

All BuildEdge PLAN entities (except for Susan... Hi, Susan!). Drawn in about 8 minutes.

If you want to give it a try, head over to our Beta Download Page and get yourself a copy!

So pelase grab a copy and take a look and let me know if you run into any issues... or just let me know if you want to praise me for all the good work we have done! πŸ˜„

Note to existing BuildEdge PLAN 1.0 users!
Due to changes to the data structure to support some of the new capabilities in BuildEdge PLAN, models created or edited in version 2.0 will not work in 1.0. You can download the Beta, install over top of your original installation, but models you create will not work if you revert back to your original software.

The good news on this front is, upgrading to the final 2.0 version (to be released in February) is free to all 1.0 users!

      Thanks!
