Nope....that didn't work. I now have geo-locate mapped to " and it still pops up when I hit the space bar. Apparently from what i'm reading online this is a known problem with Mac. Somehow I inadvertently set the icon at the bottom left of the page so now I have to hit the tab bar 4x every time I open a project or start a new one.

      Ugh.

      JuJu-
If you are speaking of the shortcut preferences, it is set to the space bar. If that's not what you mean, can you be more specific?

If I hit tab 4 times whenever I open a file, it reverts, but I need to do it permanently.

    • Space bar suddenly pops up Geo-Location box on my Mac

My space bar is suddenly popping up my Geo-Location box and I cannot figure out how to get it back to the "select" tool. I've looked online and the fixes are for older versions so my preferences look different and don't give the options they suggest.

I am on a Mac using Pro 2017.
My Mac operating system is Capitan 10.11.5

Can someone help? This is slowing me down immensely! Thanks!

    • RE: Ugh....Where are my materials in 2017?

Interesting discovery. When I open the materials folder under the Preferences WITHIN SU, it pulls the folder up.

When I try to find that SAME folder outside of SU, it's not there. Take a look at the attachments and you'll see the difference.

The first image shows the folder being opened within SU preferences, the second is the folder opened from the desktop.

      Ugh.

They show up in SU pallette but not in the library applications folder. I upload them from my desktop where I am continually adding new materials (I'm always on the lookout for good seamless textures). This is how I've loaded them for years.

    • Ugh....Where are my materials in 2017?

I just upgraded to Sketchup Pro 2017 and reloaded all of my materials because I had renamed them on my Mac and wanted the latest versions in Sketchup. Now that I have them all loaded, I want to make a copy of the materials folder with all of the new materials in it to keep on my desktop for future upgrades so I don't have to reload. (I've done this before).

When I go to Application Support > Sketchup 2017 > Materials that folder is empty. I ran a search on the Ruby console and it says that's where they are, but the folder is empty when I look there.

Anyone have any ideas where I can find them?

    • Migrating Materials to Version 2016 on a Mac

I am trying to import my materials from version 2015 pro to 2016 pro on a mac and can't find my materials folder. When I go to the route via my ruby console, there is no materials folder there(applications > sketchup 2016 > content). I've also looked under application support>sketchup 2016 and that folder is empty.

I really don't want to have to reload the sets individually as I have 100s of materials.

      Thoughts anyone?

Thanks Dave- you were right! I didn't realize that I was importing as a texture (had been doing that earlier and didn't think to change it back when importing).

      This forum is great! Thanks!

    • Why can't I import anything in SU14 pro?

I finally took the plunge and upgraded from SU 8 pro to 14 pro and one (among several) problems I'm having is that I can no longer import anything whether it's a pdf, jpg, ping, etc. I usually import site plans when building a scene, and now I can see the image with a little red cicle/slash when I go to import.

In 8, I could just click and drag to get the plan the right size when importing...now I can SEE the image inside of the document, but I cannot click to place it. So for now, as a work-around, I am importing into 8, saving and then reopening in 14 but would rather have it working.

Is anyone else having this problem, or is there something new I need to be doing?

      Jeff-

You must be on a PC (I'm on a Mac) because nothing you said above makes any sense to me at all. This is so frustrating!

Can you dumb it down for a 5th grade mac user? Thanks!

    • RE: My Sketchup Pro 2014 Plugins folder is missing

      John-

Apparently the Sketchup 2014 folder is hidden in Lion, which is what I'm using. The only way I can get to it is to type in
open "#{File.dirname(Sketchup::find_support_file("Plugins"))}" (from someone above) and it takes me directly to that folder so I cannot drop it into the favorites on the side. I want to make sure I understand you correctly when you say remove the materials....keep all of my 01 folders and delete everything from asphalt through wood?

And as for renaming the Plugins folder, do you mean the folder directly under "OldColors"?

Just want to make sure I don't screw this up even more.

    • RE: My Sketchup Pro 2014 Plugins folder is missing

      Dan-

When I type in the code you gave me, it says that I should find that folder where you said....but it's not there. See attached screenshot.

      Driven-

It DID take me to a folder from the code you gave me, but when I added the materials from my 2013 folder, they still didn't show up....I'm attaching a screen shot and you can see where I've uploaded many of my own materials already, but from the asphalt (highlighted) folder down, I cannot see any of those in SU14.

Also, when I moved my plugins over from SU13 folder, I now get a bunch of loading errors for the Shaderlight (which I have purchased an upgrade to SU14 for)highlighted in my SU2013 folder.

      Help?

    • My Sketchup Pro 2014 Plugins folder is missing

I am trying to move my materials and other plugins over to my newly upgraded Sketchup on my Mac, but cannot find the Sketchup 2014 folder in the Application Support folder....I have Google Sketchup 6, 7 and 8, and also Sketchup 2013, but no Sketchup 2014. How do I install my plugins without? I also looked under the Preferences>Extensions menu and don't see anything there either.

I am attaching screen shots of the folders so you can take a look....what am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • Rendering frustration

I am trying to find a good easy to us rendering program that will work on ONE of my Macs. I am in the process of trying Twilight, and I've seen tutorials online....it's very easy to use and I am ready to render....here's where I run into problems. In the tutorial, the teacher is doing preliminary renders to look at finishes, lighting etc. and the render takes less than 3 seconds to see (this is in Easy preset). When I do the easiest level, it takes my scene (in interior room) 20-30 minutes just to see the simple low resolution. I dont' have that kind of time. Does anyone have any suggestions? My file size is 44.1 mg

      My MAC specs:
      imac
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
      Memory: 6 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 Sdram
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MG
      Mac OSX lion 10.7.4

Anyone have any ideas? or is Twilight meant to run on a PC?

    • RE: Revit to Sketchup 8 pro

      TIG-

The original file was done in feet...I tried opening it in inches, feet, mm, and every combination I could think of. I also tried unblocking the "preserve CAD origin" and keep getting the same thing, or a complete fail. The file is exported as a 2004 file, and I sent my designer this link to follow when exporting the file....can you see anything in here that might be throwing us off?

My architect CAN open the document in AutoCad and the building is all there. What am I doing wrong? The whole reason I upgraded to Pro was so that I would be able to open these Revit files, and now I hope I didn't waste my money.
