This is all I want to do with the doors....

I have a basic panel pickup truck with 2 doors in the back..I have grouped the parts needed for each door thus I now have 2 rear doors individually grouped. I'm in rear view and I selected the Axis tool...I want the right door to be open..Where do I place the axis to make the whole door open evenly..? I placed it in the center edge of the door but the top and bottom do not swing with it?

I know there is a tutorial out there that covers making airplane bodies by using "wedges" it shows how to draw the lines offset...I have searched all the tutorials at 3d warehouse..Nada..Location or name of tut would be a big help..Thank you
