[Plugin] SketchUcation Tools
-
Hi. I try to install the SketchUcationTools_v4.4.0 but nothing happens and I can't license my plugins on 2024.
What I have to do?
-
You haven't explained what you have tried to do, and what has failed...
Here's some simple steps...
Possibility 1
You already have an earlier version of SketchUcation Tools installed.
Open the ExtensionStore³ dialog, find the tools and click on the Install button.
When it completes, restart SketchUp to sync everything.Possibility 2
You don't have an earlier version of SketchUcation Tools installed.
From our PluginStore, find and download the SketchUcation Tools RBZ file.
Open the native dialog in Extensions > Extension Manager: click the dialog's - Install button, navigate to the downloaded RBZ file and it will install.
When it completes, restart SketchUp to sync everything.To license an extension you need to have bought a license and kept it somewhere safe on your computer.
You can validate a license in the dialog which opens in the particular Extension's submenu - usually under Tools.There are more detailed pages on our site about this...

SketchUcation Tools in 2023 used to load the plungin right away when I enabled it from the disabled menu. I had to restart 2024 now. Am I missing something?

@valerostudio
I also see this issue.
When you enable a plugin it might load as an extension but it is not active.
It does not appear under the extensions list, toolbars etc.
Sometimes it works, but others it fails.
After a restart it changes as you'd expect.Something has changed in the API that's preventing this being consistent.
Most odd...
I am looking at the causes and a fix...
It's almost like SketchUp now prevent you from activating just some extensions/plugins on the fly... -

At first I thought it was the SketchUcation plugin that was causing this, but after removing the plugin
I also noticed this problem and it is sometimes worse, he rectified a plugin that I did not rectify
I even have plugins that do not deactivate, even better, I have a plugin that indicates deactivation but it remains active and functional
I have a lot of weird things with SU2024 in addition to random crashes at startup, but when testing on the latest version of SU2023 I have similar behavior
I'm not at all an expert in ruby api sketchup but I have the impression that if the plugin is not correctly coded it can behave like an SU plugin, but probably not all the time!!!

I think I also noticing that if I enable a plugin through the SketchUcation manager, close SketchUp and restart, SketchUp will hard crash the first time it starts up and loads that plugin. If I start SketchUp again, no problems and the plugin loads.

The more scenarios where it fails that are reported the better. Then we can try reproduce it our end.
We have 4.4.1 build where the disabling seems to be correct now. But I'll try these steps you've shared to see if it is resolved fully.

@valerostudio
Fixed the loading issue in v2024.
Now testing before reissuing... -
@TIG I'm happy to test it as well if needed. Thanks TIG

New update is great. Thanks TIG

Any chance you're actually using edg3d.io ? That is blocked for me, and it would give me a place to start...
Cheers

To start what? That has no relation to Sketchucation Tools

To start figuring out why I can't get sketchucation tools to work.
To refresh your memory, @TIG had suggested ensuring that two URL's and two IP addresses were unblocked. They are unblocked, but an additional URL associated with those IP addresses is blocked (I've no idea why).

@B2Pi
As far as I know, SketchUcation Tools does not require access to edg3d.io .Currently there are 2 IP addresses which are used by different parts of the Tools: 144.76.69.227 and 178.63.47.155
Plus some functions (image, javascript, css, and .rbz file downloads) are using the Amazon AWS CloudFront CDN. The CDN URLs are:
https://pluginstatic.sketchucation.com
http://pluginstatic.sketchucation.com
https://pluginrepo.sketchucation.com
http://pluginrepo.sketchucation.comIf the access to https://pluginrepo.sketchucation.com/ and it's sub folders is blocked, it might cause the error message you mentioned.
Let us know if unblocking these URLs helped or not.

I seem to still get some startup hard crashes when I have re-enabled a plugin and I restart SketchUp. Could be V-Ray and or Artisan?
-
Hello,
I have "V-Ray 6.20.03" and "artisan 2 (2.1.2)" neither of these extensions cause crashes for me.
