My Shadows Toolbar does appear. Its Show/Hide Shadows button works, but not the Shadows Settings button.

      I've:

      • pluged in in a second monitor to be sure it was not trying to display itself on the non-primary monitor. No luck

      • I've hard booted. No luck

      • I've reduced the SU window and moved it the side to assure the Shadows Settings Pane was not being hidden

Thanks for the suggestion Jeff, but it didn't do anything.

bummer.. I know a way to coax it back on a Mac but windows-- I have no clue.

the Europeans should be waking up soon.. they'll be able to figure it out.

I'm a bit fuzzy but I thinks this is what you have to do....

              Activate Shadows under windows menu.

              Press Alt-Space

              Press 'm'

Use arrow keys to move window back on screen

Download the free D'oh Book for SketchUp πŸ“–

With Sketchup closed... Start > Regedit
                Find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp8\SnappyShadows
Edit its contents, set x=0 and y=0, then close.
This will put the dialog top left of the screen when Sketchup reopens.

Also check with the secondary monitor that you have looked all around, it can be to the left, right, above or below.

Hi TIG, something else must be broken in the registry for my Laptop PC (win 7).

I also tried the registry entry on my win 7 Desktop and it worked.

Have you tried reinstalling Sketchup ?

Try repairing the installation, through the installer, first.. (before reinstalling.)

                        I'm not here much anymore.

The problem was resolved by reinstalling SU over the existing installaton.

Thank you to all for your help.

I just had similar issue, try this (worked for me):

drag out the shadows bar from the icons bar and close it with the X button (available when the shadows box is floating outside bars and panels) then go to Window->Tray (default or other)-> enable Shadows.

After this I got my shadows settings back on the tray on the right of the SU window.

Hope this works for you πŸ˜‰ Greetings from Poland!

                              Welcome to Sketchucation neverx.

One would hope that John got his issue with the Shadows window fixed a long time ago. Otherwise he's been without shadow control for 5-1/2 years and numerous SketchUp version changes. πŸ˜‰
