Maybe you can add an option for give an orientation to the component ?:
Orientation is defined by the component axis. Or did you mean something else? Image example?
-
Assuming the original component has these axis and keep them
and of course that you make a different selection for each "plan" of Cpoints
(here 3 selections with call of the pluging at each time) the more easy to codeThe input box could be for a selection for the first result:
Insert Components at CPoints with
(No rotation so default parameters = 0°)
Rotate Components on X = 0°
Rotate Components on Y = 0°
Rotate Components on Z = 0°The input box could be for a selection for the second result:
Insert Components at CPoints with
Rotate Components on X = 0°
Rotate Components on Y = 0°
Rotate Components on Z = 270°The input box could be for a selection for the third result:
Insert Components at CPoints with
Rotate Components on X = 0°
Rotate Components on Y = 0°
Rotate Components on Z = 90°Seems useful no ?

Thank you very much!
your pluhins give me a lot of help!this plugin is great! wish more powerful! -
Is there a way to add a guidepoint to the center of an exploded circle? I tired exploded arc and just circle tools, but neither of them worked on an exploded circle.
-
Circle or arc should not make a difference. Select two of the edges and it should work.

Did you try exploded arc center point finder (Chris Fullmer)?
-
Guide_tools aren't working for me under SU Pro 2013. I deleted it and all the other TT_Lib related tools, then reinstalled all. Still not working.
-
It works for me with SU2013.
You'll need to be more specific about what happens when you try to use it.
-
Any error messages? As Dave mentioned, we'd need more specific info to what "isn't working".
-
And seems this intersection don't work!
Or we can't name that Edge Edge Inetersection? -
Dear Thomthom can you add a CD Point at Bounds "Top" Center ?
And a CD Point at Bounds "Bottom" + "Top" Center ?I must make some acrobatics for have this result!

Great plug in but I noticed if I intersect 2 components, then try and find the center of the circle that is left from the intersection the plug in does not find the center. Also if you add a face to the circle it also does not add the center point. Am I missing something?
-
If you select the edge of the "circle" does SketchUp identify it as a circle in Entity Info?
-
No it is not a circle! But if I weld them it is now a curve, which is closer but not what is needed. Not seeing how to make it a circle, still missing something.
Thanks -
Unless SketchUp thinks it is an arc or a circle, the native inferencing won't be able to identify a center and neither will the Guide Tool. It's not a deficiency with this plugin. I think Chris Fullmer (or maybe Jim Foltz) did a plugin that can figure out the center of curves that aren't circles or arcs. A search of the Plugins index should turn up what you need.
-
Thanks for the help.

e.g. Chris: Exploded arc centerpoint finder

can someone check this file just to see if we're getting similar results?
if i use cPoint at Arc Center on an arc then no cpoint.. if i use cPoint at Circle Center on a circle then no cPoint.
if i use cPoint at Exploded Arc Center then it will work on an exploded arc as well as an arc or circle.
in reality, it's better (imo) to have the one command work on all scenarios.. i'm just curious if other are seeing the same thing
thanks(TT_Lib 2.9.8 with guideTools 1.4)

same result here in Windows 8
-
interesting.
up til now, I've been using a couple of different plugins to accomplish the same thing as this one command.
@thomthom. are you aware of this behavior? and if you're just now becoming aware of it, don't fix it
(unless the simplification is removing some seemingly redundant and non-working items from the menu)
