Hi guys, and sorry to bother you.

I was wondering, has anyone found a way to animate object assembly/disassembly (not just scenes, but moving objects inside) while at the same having a photo realistic effect like the ones you get for static pictures in kerkythea ?

I have seen in an older thread at some point on this forum that someone made a very nice animation of a robot with SU2KT and it looked extremely nice. However, I cannot find any tutorial or any kind of advice on how to achieve this. Could anyone please shed some light on the issue ?

I am preparing a compilation of few proposed by users modifications to the SU2KT. It includes option to export 'proper_animation' for rendering in the Kerkythea. When finished I will make a post here at SCF, KT and on my website.

          That sounds great Tomasz!

By the way, is there any simple way or script that could be used with proper animation Plugin when trying to get vehicles to drive/turn smoothly along curves? Or, is the only way to make it step by step (move the vehicle and then rotate it with rotate tool, move the vehicle and then rotate...)?

This has sort of been covered but the previous conversations don't cover my issue, I'm trying to animate a log on a conveyor going into a sawmill with this plugin, however, every time the log moves it tilts about the green axis by about 15 degrees and its geometry distorts slightly. I obviously have the latest version of the plugin from the googlepages site but the issue persists.

            Any suggestions are much appreciated.

It seems some setting was mixed up within the group that made up the log, I exploded the group and reset the scenes and the problem was solved.

                Thanks

Yeah that would be great ! What is the smallest delay time that will still work?

Oh, one more thing. Have you noticed, when in Animation Play mode, how the "shadows on Ground", (set in the Shadows dialog) do not follow well on the "virtual ground", meaning when there is no real surface? But if a surface is added then all is well. πŸ˜„

Twilight Render will render Proper Animation photorealistically in multiple methods of rendering (biased and unbiased methods)

Check it out on the features page for animation in Twilight Render.
                        see also this animation rendered.

Now both of those are examples of SketchyPhysics, but it is the same for Proper Animations (I LOVE this Proper Animation plugin)

again, it will render Proper Animation as well... if I find time, I will do an example... but am swamped at the moment. πŸ˜•

Render plug-ins usually don't export a video file, but a JPG sequence. I use VideoMach to convert that sequence to video, but Fletch posted a tip on how to do the same thing using only freeware:

I saw a post in the SketchUp forum about making a paper airplane animation. I was curious and thought I'd play with it. In the attached model, I've got two components. The triangular one is supposed to fold up. As it does, though, it moves away from the other component. When I rotated it, I rotated along the edge common to both. Is there a way to make the component "hinge" on the edge?
                                  [attachment=1:wt057bzy]<!-- ia1 -->Folding Paper.skp<!-- ia1 -->[/attachment:wt057bzy]

This seems to be an issue with the transformation.interpolate - interpolate only works by interpolating the movements, but rotations of multiple axis are not linear functions - and therefore cannot be interpolated.

Instead, to obtain the full information about the object, information about a second point must be known.

Imagine rotating a ball counterclockwise 90 degrees about the x axis and then 90 degrees CCW about the y axis, v. rotating a ball 90 degrees CCW about the y axis and then 90 degrees CCW about the x axis. It's not the same! The point (0,1,0) would be moved to (1,0,0) in the first instance, and it would be at (0,0,1) in the second instance!

With a little bit of effort, I think I can fix this (yay for paying attention in my dynamics course!) assuming the author does not mind? It would just take a bit of direct manipulation on the transformation matrix. (and a better understanding from myself of Ruby, it seems I can read ruby but can never write it).

In addition to proper animation, there is another animation plugin called mover here:
                                    http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=17459

Both plugins handle position and rotation of Groups/Instances just fine. But they start to act funny when using Instances.

I would like to be able to use either plugin to animate 2 Instances; one of which has been scaled -1.

                                    Hi

I appreciate all the hard work that's being done and has been done since SU4. but to date we still cant even come close to doing this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB91Sm-kGJ8 I wonder how much longer it will be for Google to include proper Component Animation Techniques in SU?
