as some KT masters awared me , my thin frosty material was tricky ,and maybe the only way to make correct material is using "layered materials" ... and also describing "how to make layered materials" was not easy to write , so i made an wink exe tut, that describes how to make a simple layered material ( also it is a thin frosted glass).it is a bit tricky to , but much much more better than what i've described in "fast start" guide.
cheersMind to create this in some other format - flash or what ever platform independent.

Hi Majid,
some feedback on your tutorial (the pdf-one).
I've downloaded it and i am reading it right now. Couldn't wait and downloaded the mat-scene2 also and opened the matscene2.kzx in KT, but he says that he is missing jpg's in the folder 'c:\Program Files\3d\Kerkythea Rendering System\fast start etc.
Which is correct since i've put the download in another file and unzipped it there, but do i really have to create this folder on my c-drive or can i leave them in another one and point to that one?
(sorry if my question is too sone and the answer is in your tut but i was a little unpatient and wanted to give it a tryRegards,
Fr@

many many thanx for feedback and so sorry...
first you must do a right-click over "Diffuse" and select second icon (that is for choosing bitmaps):
and then browse for textures:
here are textures, UNZIP them where you've downloaded the matscene

Okay,
thanks for your reply (and for your tut!), will give it a try -
This is very much appreciated. Thanks for your generosity.

Thank you so much, this is really nice.

Thanks for the tutorial Majid, much more usefull then the Kerky tutorial on their site...
I've got a problem with the light though.
How can I fix this?

Never mind Frederik, I had an old tutorial.
The getting started KT2008 is quite good actually.
Majids tutorials is better suited for a quick start with KT I think.Could you help me out with my lighting problem?

Without having the model you've used on hand, it's really difficult to say...
It can be the glass material you've used, which is blocking some of the light...
Have you tried applying a sky-portal...??Also - please remember that you can increase the exposure...
I just quickly played a little with the tone mapping in your render...
Hope you don't mind...
-
Nice render, Pete...
In particular I like the sofa and the material you've applied...
Are you planning to make a furniture pack...?? -
Thanks.
I doubt I'll be completing the furniture pack at this moment, I hoped my Garden pack would buy me time to continue making model packs but it failed to cover the time I put into making it. With the current financial situation and lack of sustainable work (lots of mini projects that are more hassle than help) and recent failure of my work horse I'm actually considering a break from 3D viz for a while and taking on a day job that pays a consistant wage until things get better.

Sorry to hear this...
I would have thought that it would sell like "hot bread"...
Personally I've had GREAT use of it already...!@solo said:

I'm shocked to hear this... And really sorry to hear that things have turned this bad...
-
Hope you still will linger around SCF if you should take a break from 3D Viz.
Lets hope for Better Times. -
I'm sorry to hear that too, I was really looking forward to your furniture pack, I get constant use out of your garden pack and am surprised that more people didn't buy it. I also know about how slow it is, the home improvement field has practicualry came to a halt, the only good thing is that I have some more time to to come to better grips with the apps I use and to try some new ones but that doesn't pay the bills.

hi all mates/friends. it is a while that I've prepared a useful tut for sketchup artists site (James had refined it a bit)
it is a deeper look on material making, true physicall materials.. and promise you afteer 2-3 times repeating the whole steps you'll find it easy, and also if you use tyemplates (at the end of tut) then you'll easily and fast, make your true materials....
here is the original post:
