Thanks Karlheinz, this may come handy for a lot of folks. I'm moving it to the Components/Materials/Styles forum so that it won't sink so easily.

You got it, Jim. It's good up to about 60°...perhaps a little higher, but can't go all the way to plan view. If you try to angle independent Face Me components, they start to corkscrew as you orbit the tree...very disconcerting. There are 3 shadow casters in there to cope with longer shadows, but if you're happy enough to keep within a couple of hours either side of noon, you can delete the top and bottom ones. You'll only delete 2 faces but over half the edges in the model. Edges eat memory too.

To quote dave! @unknownuser said: My Doctor has told me I have C.D.O.......Well, he wrote O.C.D.on the notes but I rearranged the letters into alphabetical order........AS THEY SHOULD BE!!! Reminds me of the time I flew from Australia to the UK to watch the aust v england cricket test match! I got off the plane with poor balance as my ear drums were inflamed and didn't know what was going on with my groin but could hardly walk. So went straight to the doctors. After examining my groin he said we'll probably have to take your testicles - I got up walked out and slammed the door - "Mate your joking those test tickets cost me a fortune not even to mention that 20 hour flight"!

Wow, that's great! I've been having some problems making one for my Pantheon model- http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=20271&p=170612#p170613 - so this is really useful to learn how to make one It's a great model, for something as complex as the capital you've kept it nice and clean

http://kauritatahi.blogspot.com/ Lawson Cypress used structurally as rafters, beams, and posts within the roof of a New Zealand "kiwi" made home. Inspirational !! In case you didnt know it has a very powerful smell to which some like and some cant handle it, if its not a well ventilated home, one may at first struggle with it, unless coated with a urethane or similar moisture cured paint or laqueer. Hi! Every time I need stainless or some other shiny material, I just use a big image of that material (a photograph for instance) (you can even stretch it quite a bit). Here's an example of stainless (works for glass surfaces too. Look's ok, even when moving in the model). Works pretty well for my projects even though it's not a tileable texture. Sometimes even renders quite nice (but most of the times not Antti [image: TJpI_steel.jpg]

what software are you using to color the model with? most great material renderings are done outside of SU!
