I wish text to image did not exist but there is no doubt but grudgingly these images are very impressive. I feel the skills a lot of us have devoted our skills to learning how to model and render are almost redundant. But that felling will be felt by many. Doctors, lawyers, musicians and admin etc Jus saying. What others feel about AI

How intuitiv is SU, compare to that huge drawing monster. Really impressive, but like others friends , the GUI is so rich that you sink and hardly swim between the features.. Let me back to SU6 , even SU 7.... MALAISE.

Mike, here is a true life story. My friend who was studying first year architecture degree with me about 6 years ago was contemplating getting a lappy for his work. At the time he was living on the ground floor of a large 3 storey Victorian house and one night heard a loud thud while cooking in the kitchen, at the time he didn't think much of it. Next morning however glancing into the garden he realised what he heard the previous night was a Macbook Pro 15" landing from the second floor window. Apparently the couple who lived upstairs from him had a huge row over the guy spending too much time on this new lappy and in a moment of jealouse rage she threw it out of the window. Apparently everything except the screen was working fine. A penny for your thought

Being a regular user of a blackberry 8700 I can tell you...yes, the keyboard is small but very easy to get used to. It took me less than a day to get the hang of it and I even have fat fingers and have no issues. Remus, The reason I do not lug around a laptop is because I have my blackberry. It opens pdf, excel, word, etc. So I can get a lot of work done in a small package. While I thought like you did a while back, I now feel naked without it. Yes it can be a pain being TOO connected but it saves a lot of time. I do not want to take an hour answering emails when I get home. That time is for my family and surprisingly my wife would rather me have my blackberry than a laptop open while on the couch. I think it is a thing that she thinks I am always working of I have a laptop open. Scott

oh, I even found a link: http://www.wnbc.com/news/2600581/detail.html Do you think I can sue cuil for this somehow? I'm sure its caused me undue grief or stress or something to have that violent imagery associated with the wiki EDIT: Though it is tied directly to the irender page, so perhaps its Al who gets to sue then....

Well, anyone can find those holes (called 'registration') but as I see the team never leaves a spammer to me (if you knew what a nice feeling is to press the 'Ban' button on them)

Our firm goes through an exercize at the beginning of a project - any size or type- called Due Diligence where we investigate the local building and zoning codes, look for any additional development criteria or design review requirements etc. It is a legitimate billable expense that saves much grief later on (such as the grief described). We do work from Florida to Seattle and everthing in between and even though most states have adopted the International Building Code it is amazing how many interpretations and exceptions there are by the state and local code enforcement officials for the same things and especially the interpretations by the local Fire Marshals - they are godlike and can overrule all the established codes. Anyway, the pay as you go service described might be a good idea, in some respects, for people who want to see a concept or potential for some building idea but the architect is still responsible for professional level service from the beginning no matter how conceptual it is.

Bore da Bigstick, I'm a Cardiff boy myself, but never leaned to speak Welsh. What part of Wales are you living in? I am interested in your experience of using VectorWorks to create 2D drawings from 3D Sketchup models. Perhaps you could start a new post and (if possible) show a few examples - 3D model followed by 2D drawings. There have been previous posts (in Freeware I think) which describe open source and free 2D CAD programs. I think it would be a great step forward if Sketchup could be married to one of these free CAD packages. It would open up Sketchup to new applications that require a more professional output, i.e. fully dimensioned and annotated drawings. Perhaps this is already possible. Regards, Bob

As funny as this is I think the artist is making an important and chilling statement. Dolly the sheep meets the Matrix is pretty much with us now. Who would like to bet that the big toy companies [not to mention the military] are not looking seriously into this now?

"I think Ron Paul may have been too real" I think you have hit the nail on the head. It appears to be a part of the human condition to want to be liked and accepted by those around you. But I find it depressing that so many people seem to have a sheep mentality. They want so badly to remain a part of the herd that they are terrified to say or even think differently from what appears to be the "popular" view. Very, very depressing. Regards Mr S
