    • RE: The TAX MAN is going to PAY for my electric bike!

Hey mike, is this using the cycle to work scheme launched last year? Myself and a few colleagues have used this to upgrade our bikes and it's great.

You basically pay for the bike yourself, but the money is taken from
your wages pre-tax, over the course of a year, which results in 21-41% savings. If you have any questions let me know and I'll do my best to help out. This may help too.....

also tell Declan that a 2 mile journey in a suit isn't too bad. I
10k from Dublin city and do not need shower facilities, just change in the bathrooms when I get there.

With irelands lovely weather, you will need to be prepared, especially in the west. I don't use waterproofs becuase good ones are very expensive. Cheap ones will make you sweat buckets after a few miles. So I just wear shorts and sandals if it's wet, easier to dry off.

    • RE: The OLO, iPhone powered Notebook!

Isnt one of the downfalls of the iphone lack of multi-tasking? I heard that due to lack of RAM, programs or apps cant be minimised, only terminated. I wonder does this machine have some sort of processor itself and just read info from the phone? Looks interesting though.

EDIT: Just read Remus' post now, oops.

    • RE: For VRay buffs: a mammoth guide just released in English

€130 seems excessive, but then again I've been looking for something like this. I would love to hear feedback about how well everything is explained. I've used the official V-Ray videos, which showed me the basics, but there were too many lines like -

      "lets just ignore that feature"
"set this to, I don't know, 0.001, and this to 8000" without proper explanation of what differences each value actually makes.

I've been playing with V-Ray (for autodesk viz mainly) and while you can use trial and error, there are just so many little settings/features that it's hard to know what's going to effect your render, with regards to quality, and with regards to speed.

One for the Christmas list I think!

    • RE: Hospital Exterior

Great job on the power lines. I've never been a fan of cutting around trees/lampposts etc in photoshop. Very time consuming. Usually I just try and remove the trees altogether, and put fake ones in both the before and after shot. This can also cover up imperfections. This method obviously doesn't always work.

Anyway, the cut-out job you've done is perfect!

    • RE: Going without a car

Ive owned a car for about a year now, and the rising fuel costs are making me reconsider owning it. There is no parking at work, and parking on the street outside is about €16 per day (and technically, i have to move it every 3 hours).
Commute by bicycle, its the only option! I cycle 20km a day to work, 3 times faster than a bus stuck in traffic or in the car. Always arrive on time too..
So I have a car sitting at home. I think it might be time for it to go, but, unfortunately, nobody here wants to buy cars these days. Damn.

Instead just add some more headlights to the sled, light up the night, and enjoy driving after dusk

haha! If you cant beat em, join em.

    • Newbie. Well, Kinda

      Hey all,

Just another noob thread. Used to post in the official sketchup forum but got out quick-smart when groups took over. I'm a little late catching up to this but thank god there's what seems to be a decent forum and I see many users from the last one here.

so just a hello from me, looking forward to posting again.

      Cheers
