Thanks gaieus. Its an old post anyway, I know the problem too, so no problem. BTW a very clean 3ds model from blender, SU, even podium loves it. I have a feeling, that SU can handle almost huge amount of models like this. I was trying to crash it and nothing bad happened.

'Clay' renders. Well, sorta. Going for a more realistic look than usually. [image: Dbqf_claysetupfinnished6.png] [image: z7Pg_claysetupfinnished5.png]

Thanks. I did not model those. I did the majority of this 2-3 years ago. I found the column on the old SU forum and modified it a bit. If I had it in me (which I don't) I would build my own. [image: 37B3_Col.jpg]

That's it, excellent work pete, but I don't like this smart blur thing. Better be a friend than an enemy. lol But I really don't find this last one render friendly. What's happening in this house anyway?

Nice to see you trying other software, Olishea. I've used LightUp for some quick visualizations. It's good for small models if the client does not require photorealism and you need to create tons of images of the same model in very little time. A couple of my LightUp images (Second one composited in GIMP): [image: 0JQp_Stand_plasticos_011_lightup1.jpg] [image: qB9F_parrila_nato.jpg] For more complex stuff, I'll be using Twilight.

Dude i think your sky makes the image seem very unsettling. I mean you got quite strong sun and a stormy sky. it freaks me out!!

I would post the file but it's very big. I'll make a reduced version with good layering. I'd be interested to see which app could render it the best. I know you can get better, more realistic results with other renderers but I don't have the time to learn anything else at the moment. Podium is very very fast. In that its totally integrated in sketchup and the workflow is very simple. This render only takes 10 minutes with sunlight and all omnis/bumps/reflections at full quality/anti-alias. I am sure the twilight render would look more real, but 90% of the time I do not require anything remotely photoreal. Sometimes you can give a client too much too early, thats my problem anyway. I would love to be a vray or vue guru but i dont have the time unfortunately. Some vray renders are just breathtaking. Thanks Biebel for your comments, your renders have inspired me to up my game. Yes the chairs do look heavyweight dont they, kinda like big toy chairs!! I agree they are too shiny but nothing that cant be sorted out. Brodie thanks for the link, i had problems accessing it too but I'll keep checking it out. cheers fymoro, i put a lot of effort into the details! but theres always room for more!
