The 1050 would be a deal breaker for me. It depends on what you want to run and its better than nothing but more sooner than later I'm afraid the need for more power will rise again. Also, it has not enough power to do even low end vr which would be a nice option. Edit; a nice list of eGPU enclosures can be found at https://egpu.io/external-gpu-buyers-guide-2018/

Hi Guys, I posted about Afloat some time ago. At the time I found it to be an extremely useful utility, especially when working on a single monitor as it 'floated' apps that you need on top. [image: OCHX_Afloatpage.jpg] Recent Mac OS upgrades made Afloat installation impossible but with High Sierra its possible again. I discovered great step by step instructions by Damian, here, https://www.maketecheasier.com/mac-keeping-your-application-window-always-on-top/ If you install Afloat don't forget to re-enable System Integrity Protection. Guys, @boofredlay said: Looks nice. I wonder what kind of fatigue it will cause the user, less or more than normal. I currently use a Mad Catz R.A.T. 7 and a SpaceNavigator for my day to day cad. I tried the 3DConnection CadMouse but it was ultimately not very comfortable. Eric, I imagine there will be less fatigue as the Lexip acts as a mouse and navigator. In my case, @solo said: Looks like a great tool, but I cannot imagine myself ever using it as it seems to require a lot of wrist movement, I'd hate doing that for 10 hours. I will be free to hold a cig while I work. @solo said: Looks like a great tool, but I cannot imagine myself ever using it as it seems to require a lot of wrist movement, I'd hate doing that for 10 hours. Pete, spending 10 hours a day is too much. Joking aside, I hope to be trying out a proto/demo version shortly. I will then know how good it is. @liam887 said: If I hadn't already spent hundreds of pounds on the things sitting on my desk right now then I would probably give it a go. Looks like a good option for freeing up space on the USB ports. If I upgrade my PC this year from full tower to Mini ITX then it could be a good solution Liam, I know the feeling of having too many bits and pieces not used. We should sell off or give away what we don't use. Mike

Very thought provoking, just where is AI going? Perhaps we have to debate this properly before this sort of thing. Genie and out of the box spring to mind.

To upgrade from my current version 6.5 to 8 will cost $880, that is a ton of money for an upgrade, I'm torn.

I'm disappointed to hear this Rich, another example of Sketchup being ignored. A lot of their pre-release videos were ArchiCAD and Autodesk Revit based, I kept having to ask if they were still going to support Sketchup but never got much of a response.

@rich o brien said: I tried it a year or so ago and found it very sluggish to use. Lots of spinning cursor time. Yeah, I found it somewhat laggy, too. Still, not a bad app. I like Painter better, though. I have been messing with it since this morning, and I must say, it's been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Good stuff.

If you are doing some gaming then GTX. For normal CAD (AutoCAD) and SU you will see no difference in a Quadro card, especially for the price difference. Here is an older test back in '13 with Quadros, GTX and AMD cards. I hate that they did not test SU with the cards but for normal CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor, Max) I can see no reason to spend the extra $$ on a Quadro. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-workstation-graphics-card,3493.html

I would say it depends on the size of the SSD, the amount of data and your data structure. Of course basically as much as possible of your work files on the SSD. Durability shouldn't be a problem at all at these data rates. I have all my data files (project files, documents, textures, models, materials, installers) stored on my file server. My recent projects and presorted textures and models on a 500GB SSD on the server (in RAID1). And the rest on HDD. All backuped to HDD. (so the network connection is the limiting factor)

I guess it's a multi key operation, since I cant find a (select button, or whatever the key equivalent is for the "Left Click" button... I'm guessing the "left click" and the copy buttons can not be added together. So the best I can come up with is to first use the "left click" button than use the "copy" button than use the "left click" button again and than choose the "paste" button and than use the "Left Click" button again. You cant just put the curser over an object and pick copy, move it where you want it and hit the paste button. So instead of 2 button set of actions you must use 5 to accomplish the same thing.
