RE: Update Layout 2014 with changes made to SU model
Thanks for your help Dave R. I've been trying out your suggestions and I understand it now. Also, I somehow unlinked the model reference from LO - when I relinked it the scene updates worked (even the modified scenes).
Thanks again,

RE: Update Layout 2014 with changes made to SU model
Hello Dave R
Thank you for your quick response. I see what you mean about the modified scenes. I have now determined that these are automatically created when I zoom/extents inside the viewport. The zoom factor of the default viewport that opens when I sent the model to LO was too far away so when I zoom/extents to fill the viewport the modified scenes were created. I don't know how to prevent this from happening. Do you know of a way I can zoom inside the viewport without it creating the modified scene? Also, what steps did you take to repair the broken viewports?
Thank you,

Update Layout 2014 with changes made to SU model
Hello
I recently completed my 1st attempt at Layout (I'm using Layout 2014). While creating the Layout views I had the SU model open and I could update the Layout views (right click and choose Update Model Reference) as I made changes to the SU model. Everything worked well.
A few days later I opened both the SU model and the corresponding Layout. When I made changes to the SU model and used the same right click procedure the Layout didn't update with the changes.
I'm wondering if it is possible to have Layout update with future changes to an SU model?
Can anyone help me with this? I appreciate any response I get. I've uploaded the SU model and the Layout - both are version 2014. If it helps I could save them as version 2013 or 8 and reupload them.Thank you,

RE: Component: cut an opening
Hello All
With help from the first of the two tutorials by Gaieus (noted further up in these replies) I created an undermount sink component to go into a 1 1/2" thick countertop. The sink will automatically cut the bottom layer of the countertop and then you just select and delete the portion of the top layer of the countertop that covers the sink. I'm pretty new to components so I don't know why this works. Additional instances of the sink component will cut both layers of the countertop.
I added a 1 1/2" high "frame" around the top of the sink that allows me to apply the same material to it as on the countertop to make it look like a true undermount sink. I then applied a metal material to the sink deck and bowls.
I'm going to create a library of sinks with various "frame" heights (3/4", 1 1/4", etc.) for different thicknesses of countertops.
I've attached a sample file for anyone that wants to view or download the sink component.

RE: Copies of DC cabinet door not working properly
Hi Jim
Thank you so much for getting this door to work correctly. Having a sizeable door will save me a lot of time when modelling. I'm pretty new at DC's so I really appreciate someone with your expertise helping me. I'll also use this door as a template to build a sizeable drawer front with 1 1/2" rails and 2 1/2" stiles.
Thanks again,

Copies of DC cabinet door not working properly
Hello All
I've attached a DC cabinet door that I thought I had figured out but it's not quite right yet. With the help of DareDevil I've got it so I can resize it in height and width but when I resize copies of it the frames and panels fall out of alignment.
What I'd like to have is a single cabinet door that I that I can copy, move, rotate, and resize to the various sizes required for kitchens that I model. I've searched the internet and found info about making a DC unique but I didn't grasp how to do it. Can anyone help me with this? I really appreciate any responses I may get.

RE: Needing help with a dynamic (sizeable) cabinet door
DareDevil - Thank you for your help I've got it working perfectly now. I can see how I can use this coding for other DC's as well.
dukejazz - Thank you for the info on your plugin, I haven't tried it yet but it looks great.
Once again thank you to both of you for your help and your quick responses.

Needing help with a dynamic (sizeable) cabinet door
Hello All
I'm new to dynamic components and I've created a sizeable shaker style cabinet door that isn't working properly. The door is 10" wide x 10" high with options to change the width and height. When I adjust the width it seems to work but when I adjust the height the center panel and the top rail move out of alignment. I've attached the file - can someone please check my attributes and options and see where I've gone wrong? Also, does anyone know of websites, tutorials, etc for dynamic components for beginners? I appreciate any help.
Thank you,
