      Thanks Dale,

      First, "Whaat" a great plugin!

However when using the PB Quantifier, the report shows the shorter measure of a cut sheet, is it possible to show the bounding box measure as a alternative or check?

      [attachment=0:39kov7e0]<!-- ia0 -->cut sheet measure.JPG<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:39kov7e0]

      Hi pcmoor,

Did you create that object with Profile Builder? If so, the length should be based on the length of the underlying path. Using the bounding box to calculate length will not work on a Profile Member composed of multiple segments.

I wish the Author will overcome (in the near future) the biggest limitation:
only connected edges are accepted as profile path.
NB: Dudes leaf through the Help pages. This is really thermo-nuclear power plugin!

Thanks - but how would you propose that it should work to determine the path?

      By pre-selecting the edges.
Its implemented in 3ds Max for ages:
One 'top' spline entity can incorporate numerous not connected splines.

OK, so you want to be able to select multiple polylines (not connected to each other) prior to building along path? That feature will probably come eventually...

I don't agree on the taxes. Taxes are never advertised in the US. They are different according to the manner of the transaction and where you are. Sales taxes are by state and local government (it can be a different amount in the next town).

I would ask where is the tax coming from? When I buy something from Colorado, I am charged California sales tax, because that's where I am. If you are in another country I don't know where the tax is generated.

I think the taxes are determined by the location of the puchaser.

I agree, these should be displayed before choosing to purchase - this is out of my control however...

      Hi Aces,

That's a difficult one to do with the plugin. In general, it is designed for profiles to be used to connect the components. You should be able to create a polyline profile for the wire mesh instead of a component but it won't be as realistic as what you are trying to achieve. Thanks for the feedback!

Whaat, wouldn´t you be able to achieve that by using code similar to FredoScale's Planar Shearing? It´s easy to think of other things that would benefit from it, like electricity poles connected by electrical wires (the wires would be an arc... planar shearing them when the poles have different heights would be better looking than rotating the arcs)

If I keep getting requests about this, I will definitely consider it, thanks!

    • [Plugin][$] Profile Builder 2

Profile Builder 2 has just been released on SketchUp's Extension Warehouse.

PB2 is compatible with SU2015 and newer.

      Features include:

      • Build, Edit and Quantify intelligent models of real building materials
      • Define and Save custom Profiles
      • Automatic orientation of profile extrusion along any path
      • Full control of profile orientation along a path
      • NEW Parametric Assemblies (Combine unlimited profiles and components into a path-based parametric model!)
      • NEW Set the height and width of any profile
      • NEW Save profile defaults
      • NEW Profile browser and revamped user interface
      • NEW Profiles stay upright on helical paths
      • NEW Extend / Split Profile Member tool
      • NEW Revolve a Profile
      • NEW Trimming tools
      • NEW Smart-Path select Tool
      • NEW Quantifier tool
      • NEW Instant Cost Estimates and Quantity Reports
      • NEW Easier editing of paths
      • NEW Profiles are now stored as editable SKP files (but don't worry - your custom Profile libraries from version 1 can be easily imported and automatically converted)
      • and much more!

A detailed user guide is included with the installation. Inside SketchUp, go to Extensions->Profile Builder 2->Help to view the complete documentation.

Thousands of profiles packed in with installation:

      • AISC Steel Shapes (C, HSS, L, S, W)
      • AITC Glulam Profiles
      • more than 1400 Moulding Profiles
      • Handrails
      • Lumber
      • Concrete curbs

Due to the current limits of the Extension Warehouse, I am not able to provide an upgrade option for Profile Builder Pro (version 1) customers. Instead, I am offering an introductory price for ALL PB2 customers of $37.50 US (25% discount).

A 30 day free trial is available as well, so take it for a test run and let me know what you think!

Another one by me (I use your plugin almost on a daily basis): use the world xyz axis in the resulting profile group as well.
In the current version, if you build a beam from 0,0,0 to 100,0,0 and you go into the group to edit the result, the Z axis is aligned to the vector from 0,0,0 to 100,0,0. From a user (my) pov its a small inconvenience.

What about having the Z axis aligned to the world Z axis and the Y axis aligned to the vector from 0,0,0 to 100,0,0?

Can you explain in more detail how it is an inconvenience?

      Thanks!

well my quick solution for the day was to use "profilebuilder" there i have the lines i need... Quick and works just great. 😄

As a structural engineer, I am very familiar with STAAD. It would not be hard to add a feature to Profile Builder for exporting directly to STAAD's .std file format. I have thought often about doing this.

I might eventually add this feature to Profile Builder if there would be enough interest...
