All too true. This is a common deficiency of many 'exploded' diagrams, distributed as instructions.

I've depicted such by copying the circle multiple times, at small intervals, to represent threads. I suspect no one will count them, nor measure the pitch, nor notice that it's not a helix.

I wonder which is less memory-intensive, 'image texture' threads, or multiple circles?

Yes, that all makes sense. What is confusing is that after using the off-set tool one can click on individual areas and see that they all separated by circle entities. So intuitively, one assumes that on the next push-pull the circle entity will divide the cylinder, which it doesn't. Pulling the the outer annular area first solves this problem, or doing what Alan suggests, intersecting before deleting

Another mystery solved.

My main interest is not photo-realism, but accuracy. I suppose that trait comes from my physics and engineering background. I would not make an architect as I like to design to micron accuracy (okay, I will accept acuracies of +/- 0.01 mm).
