Would that cause the effect in my renderings though?

RE: Speckles in my render.
Cheers Andy, what does anisotropy do? I'm still trying to get my head round all of the terminology.

RE: Speckles in my render.
Thanks for that, it has definitely made a difference to the renders and now they look much cleaner. Do you know why this occurs?
No I haven't used any emissive materials for anything, well there's an emissive layer on the computer screen in the office image but that's literally it. Would that effect the render? (I dont know a great deal about emissive layers as I'm fairly new to all this)

RE: SKU Export to Maxwell
Hi Edwin,
I may be wrong and hope that I am, I use VRay and I have check every time I update SKU to a newer version if it will be compatible.
If it is I'd check out this tube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9mkJOvXSDc

Hi Baton,
Your images havent shown up on your thread, if you try again I may be able to suggest something.

RE: Resizing a model of wooden lattice
Hey Blade,
I know the problem youāre having and its a fairly simple one to fix. Thereās one thing you need to remember if youāre doing accurate scaling and that is knowing the size you have and knowing the size that you want.
For example if I have an object that is a 50ā cube and I want it to be 75ā cube I divide the size that I want by the size that I have, this will then give me my scaling factor; which is 75/50 = 1.5 for this.
What you do then is apply the scale tool to the object that you want to scale, grab one of the opposite corners and add the factor.
This also works for scaling down object however this time you divide the size that you have, say 75ā cube, by the size that you want, 50ā cube, this will then again give me a scaling factor which weāll is 50/75 = 0.6666666666666667 for this, you then apply this in the same way.
I would recommend always going to a minimum of 4 decimal places, however this all depends on the accuracy that you want.
I use this technique for scaling up and down drawing all the time, let me know if you need a hand.
Oh and also this works for all shapes not just cubes you just need to determine the sizes that you have and that you want.

RE: Speckles in my render.
below are my images for the post above, any recommendations would be great as I dont understand the random speckling.

RE: Sofa "Triumph"
Great work, what did you use in sketchup to make the cushions so good? do you work at 1 to 1 scale? I do and I have issues with fabric wrapping on my model, any tips or suggestions?
Amazing as all ways

RE: Lower Lounge
Amazing work Myren8t, what did you use to make the rug? and the curtains?
You've given me something to aim for now

Amazing furniture Ginchius, how do you get the material to wrap so well around the models?
Its always inspiring to see works like this.

Speckles in my render.
Hello Guys and Gals,
Iām Carl, Iām a freelance architectural designer and I guess you could say Iām relatively new to using VRAY and Sketchup; Iāve been using it on and off for the last few years but only to the level of basic model making and basic white studio renderings.
Iām currently working on examples for my portfolio and my website but I seem to be having issues with my rendered image. There seems to be white dots and speckling at different point of the image and I do not know why this is? Any suggestions would be great. Iām using Sketchup 8 and Vray 2.1 (I think).
Iāve put some images below of what I mean, but if they donāt show up I can e-mail them to you.
Cheers
Carl

VRAY Material Mapping ssues
Hello everyone,
Iām Carl, Iām a freelance architectural designer and I guess you could say Iām relatively new to using VRAY and Sketchup; Iāve been using it on and off for the last few years but only to the level of model making and basic white studio renderings.
Lately though Iāve been trying to teach myself how to do more with VRAY as I really like the results that I get from it and it can be relatively easy to use, however for some of the stuff that I am trying to figure out I donāt seem to be able to find the answers and was hoping that someone here may be able to help. I think they are fairly simple answers and some of you may role your eyes at the noob, but I was always taught there are no stupid questions there are only answers.
Any way before I blabber on to much here are my questions.
-
I always work in millimetres, however when I use VRAY none of the standard textures or materials are ever to scale. Is there a reason behind this or should I be working at a different scale? Everything I do is on a scale of one to one.
-
If I rescale the texture/material using Sketchups default reposition texture tool I can easily manipulate rotation, scale and such however I find that this only affects the diffuse layer of the material when proceeding to render and the bump, noise, etc maps all stay the same as the setting they were imported in at. The problem is that the VRAY material in the channel diffuse; then UVW section (which is what I assume controls the material scale), the scale has not changed and therefore I do not know what settings to put in the other options to ensure that the bump, noise, etc maps all follow through to the render.
2.a. I use only the Sketchup default reposition texture tool and I did know the values how do the other channels know where to place themselves?
- My final question at this time is roughly along the lines of mapping, for example I recently downloaded a great material called āLedgestone Brownā which will look great once I figure out how to use it properly. The problem is when its when you apply it to the object it kind of does whatever the heck it wants in terms of where it goes, do I need to change the UVW type in the diffuse (and others) channel to something else or will this require me to adjust using the Sketchups default reposition texture tool.
This problem also occurs most when using marble or wooden material on work surfaces when filleted edges.
Any help anyone can give would be amazing as these area are a little frustrating especially as I donāt seem to be able to find any information or topics that cover them. If I havenāt explained it properly please let me know and Iāll see if I can explain it in more detail. I can also upload images of what I mean if needed.
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help.
Carl
