RE: Entities.add_face - does order matter
The order definitely matters. And its not discussed in the Ruby docs, as far as I know. Its even more important if its followed by a pushpull. I seem to recall you want to enter your points clockwise when creating a face. If you enter your points anticlockwise then a pushpull will produce an object with the faces reversed.

RE: [Plugin] GoldenGauge now available
let me rephrase:
If you didn't make the first rectangle a group, would then any succeeding rectangles created by running the script again, intersect with any previously drawn rectangle.
-
RE: [Plugin] GoldenGauge now available
Fantastic!
I have 2 comments:
Why not include the 3 point pick triangle module which JIM helped me with, in Windowtools this idea provides an on screen reference showing the exact outline of the proposed 1st rectangle.
I'm puzzled why succeeding subdivisions within the same face using your script (aka Fabonacci), don't intersect with the model. I thought that was supposed to be one of the new features in SU7?

Do you mean that offset.rb is installed with SU7?
Yes, offset.rb is installed with SU7
However my previous post and attached picture still confirms the same greeble problem when used with SU6 operating under Vista64. Mind you there are a significant number of Plugins that maybe contributing to the problem, BTW compospraytool.rb is not installed in that plugins dir.

Rick, I am getting this error:
Error; #<ArgumentError; Cannot create unit vector from zero length vector> > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/offset.rb;49;in `parallel?' > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/offset.rb;49;in `offset' > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/offset.rb;39;in `upto' > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/offset.rb;39;in `offset' > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/clf_greeble.rb;159;in `greeble' > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/clf_greeble.rb;137;in `each' > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/clf_greeble.rb;137;in `greeble' > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/clf_greeble.rb;200 > > C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/clf_greeble.rb;200;in `call'
I'm sure its because I'm passing bad geometry to your offset script. What do I need to check so as to not pass bad geometry to offset.rb? Thanks!
I had the exact same error on one of my files. when I quit SU7. I was asked if I want to fix the error in that file. Which I did. Since then I don't get that error anymore.
FYI: new SU7 install under Vista64, the only installed plugins are what the greeble script requires. -
RE: Collaborative Effort - Ruby Template, RDoc, and Localization
@rickw said:
I'm considering adding this to the ruby template, but wanted to get input. After a rather infamous incident recently, I thought about easing the localization effort for menus, and came up with this:
I have certainly benefited from looking at your coded Rubies, which have allowed me to mimic procedures for developing a bases upon which I was able to develop my own Rubies for distribution freely to his SU forum.
That being said, I feel since Google bought SU. We have been more or less a rudderless ship. With each Ruby developer taking his or her own approach towards developing more advanced GUI solutions, under the Ruby umbrella.
I applaud your efforts towards bringing some order to the Ruby script writing chaos. I also see you have taken it upon yourself to direct a task which I think should be directed by SU Google staff. But it appears they are again missing in action. Unless perhaps via private email you have their blessing in this endeavor.
We also had a few weeks ago a new young gun who was offering to implement a new GUI within SU using the Python as a second scripting language. I looked at that thread through different eyes then those that responded, by dismissing it outright. As a result of a few negative comments his alternative solution was shot down by a few SU forum members.
Again not a comment for or against was posted by SU Google staff.
I don't know where Google wants to take SU. It would certainly be refreshing to get some direction from them.
BTW: don't shoot the messenger, please!

FYI: I just d/led this file. it works with SU 7 but SU6
It might be better to simply post updated scripts in a zip or rar file that way the rar or zip will have a revision number you can always keep track of. Instead of simply changing the original post. Its just an idea I had.that should have read " FYI: I just d/led this file. it works with SU 7 butnotSU6"

Well this is driving me nuts. I can see already that the version I uploaded is not the most recent version based on a few tweaks that are wrong. SO I'll go to the computer I was working on this on and see if it has the most recent. I did find a the spot that the script is breaking, and its in a spot that looks stable. Soooo, hopefully I'll find the working copy again and be able to upload that later today.
Chris
EDIT: for now, if someone wants to post an older working version, I wouldn't mind having a copy either But once I get the script working, I wouldn't mind it being removed.
Nice addition Chris!

my camera is SOny DSLR DSC-R1 one of those first versions. im planning in getting Cannon or Nikon now. but im still happy with my SOny though.
I'm curious, what reasonably priced Canon or Nikon camera would you be interested in?
I'm looking to buy a, 21 Megapixel SLR, but just because I can afford it does not mean I will.I think your Sony has one of the best hand held ergonomics of any SLR, that newer cameras don't have. I also see your using autobracketing to create those great HDR effects in your final photos.
So what are the features you see in the newer SLR's that would attract you to buy one?

chango70 you twicked my interest, and I found this unflattering photo.
I have seen a lot of badly cast architectural concrete. This one certainly tops my list.
I have pictures I took of Unitรฉ d'Habitation in 1979 which showed how concrete
exposed to the elements has behaved, which up to that time was 30 years.
Those pictures don't look as bad as this recently completed oversized proctology device. At least Le Corbusier had some understanding of casting exposed concrete.
Why don't these technical issues ever get discussed in Architectural Schools? You can't cast exposed concrete monolithically without considering the following:
- one needs to consider the type of formwork one is using.
- one needs to know that each joint in the formwork provides a source for leakage while the concrete is setting.
- one needs to know where to place the form ties.
There are many many more issues, and I don't intend this short observation to become a lecture on the technical issues involved in casting exposed concrete.
Hence it appears to me that none of this seems to have registered with this Architect.
I'm also curious, when you come back, please tell us what that windowless interior space at the pointy end is being used for?

RE: Re: Some Funny Pics.
A woman, whose hair color you might have guessed, ran over a mattress and decided to keep going anyway. The mattress got caught in the car's under belly and finally whipped around enough to put a tear in the gas tank. Leaking gas She still managed to drive the car for 30 more miles decently, with a 60lb tangle wrapped around the drive shaft. The subsequent lack of fuel is what finally brought her vehicle to its knees. After having her car towed to her dealer's garage, She complained that the vehicle had a "shimmy" when driving it at high speeds.
This is what the dealership found..............

I'm curious! Why would you export to Maxwell when Modo already has a high quality rendering engine? It appears to me your buying a lot of additional software. On the other hand why not just import SU obj's into Maxwell and forget about Modo?

RE: Ireland - 41% architects without job
If you are wondering why this is happened not only in Ireland,
then please click through these 8 pages and read carefully in layman's
language how we have arrived at this juncture. This may help you to
explaining to your grandchildren why they maybe poorer.Architect's traditionally are the first to be employed when the economy accelerates, and they are the first to lose their clients in a recession. Luckily I have made it through 4 of such 10 year cycles. My hope is you will be as lucky in the future.

I don't like the idea of starting to scramble scripts. I feel it'll do more harm than good. Looking at other scripts is a nice way to learn how things are done when you learn doing Ruby plugins. Having a separate section for trusted only people to access unscrambled scripts has the danger of sounding very elitist. Takes away the openness of the forum.
Seeing how quickly and effectively this forum community reacted to this matter makes me feel at ease and not worry too much. If something like this pops up again, I'm sure we can all pull together once more and sort it out.
I echo your sentiments!

RE: Re: Some Funny Pics.
This is the actual turn-off From Banff, Alberta, Canada to the #1 highway to Calgary .
They had to build the animals their own crossing (especially the elk) because that was where the natural crossing was and after the highway was built there were far too many accidents. It didn't take the animals long to learn that this was their very own bridge! And then you have some people saying 'Animals are stupid.'
