Thank you all for your input, this is a great forum. Is there a better way to reach out to Google and get this issue resolved? We understand there can be a need to do a work around at times with software but when we start getting into downgrading other software this is where some urgent action needs to be taken by google.

Hi All,

I've run into a problem with DC attributes window when opening a custom attribute and the "Display Label" field is blacked out. There was a past post with a similar issue in the DC options window, that post had a solution for the options window but didn't fix the custom attributes window. The issue was caused by a Safari 5.1.7 update and the solution was to edit the DC Sketchup css style sheets. I couldn't find the style in the css style sheet that changed the "Display Label" input field. Does anyone know the style I need to change?

Hi All,

The fix Peter provided worked for the fields in my DC options window. But when I open my custom attributes window and look at the "Display Label" it is black as well. I couldn't find the style in the css style sheet that changed this input field. Does anyone know the style I need to change.

Hi Everyone,

I have a DC with groups inside I am effecting using the DC attributes. Is this a bad practice or is it normal? I ask this because in my case the DC with groups is not behaving as intended. If I make all the groups in the DC into components everything works great.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your response. I noticed you switched everything to components. I did that test early and for some reason everything works great, as well as in your example. The reason I've made everything groups is so we can clean up our components list window. Do you now if it is a bad practice to use groups inside of DC or does it normally work correctly.

Hi Everyone,

I have a DC that is rotating, show/hiding and resizing a couple groups inside of itself. Please see example file. In the file the DC is called "Unit". Issue are marked out below.

ISSUES
01 - In the DC options if I extend the BeamLength from 30' to 50' all works well. From 50' if I change the length to 15' the "Head" and "Yoke" groups grow larger, which is not the intended behavior.
02 - In the DC options if I extend the BeamLength from 30' to 50' then switch BeamType to a different color
"Head" and "Yoke" groups grow again

Does anyone have any idea what I've done wrong?

I see want you did and it works for the situation. For our end goal of being able to extend and widen the cone using the same material or color this technique would still break. Or is there something I am missing?

Thank you for your response. I've added an examples to your original file. As you can see for our application using a graphic texture doesn't work. What I would like to be able to accomplish is using DC to switch color of Sketchup created "transparent gradient", which then gives me the ability using DC to extend and widen cone without having to create new graphics.

Any ideas?

Hi Everyone,

We are looking for a way to make a color inside of sketchup to go from 0% to 100% opacity over a distance on a face. I am aware that it can be done using textures, it would just be more efficient if there is a way to do it in Sketchup.

I've read several post discussing gradients inside of Sketchup not being possible. The posts I've read were from a couple years ago. Does anyone know of a plugin, DCs or a new setting in Sketch I am not aware of.

Hi Utiler,

I noticed that after I made my post Vince's name was still on the profile and I removed it.

• The black lines I am seeing are around the texture image where there are not items behind it. See Example_2.png

• The X lines going vertical and horizontal through my export can bee seen in example 1 or 2. Example 2 has nothing but a single face it still has the lines.

Hi TIG,

Using the Animation codec. I can export a video from the example file at 5, 10, 12, and 15 frames per second. Once it gets to 24 or higher can't export. No order settings seem to make a difference.

I see what you've done to fix the issue. Thank you. Now it still seems like a work around, do you know what is causing the transparent texture to behave this way in Layout?

We are able to make exports using the H.264 compression type at all the same settings. As well as make an export using the Animation compression type but with the width and height at 160 x 90.

Does anyone have any input as to what is going on?

We have just recently upgraded to Sketchup 8 and are experiencing some animation exporting issues. We are on Sketchup 8.0.11751.

All my export settings and file info are listed below. In Sketchup 7 these export settings worked but since the update it crashes. If the frame rate is switched to 24 FPS the export works.

We have just recently upgraded to Sketchup 8 and are experiencing some Layout exporting issues. We are on Layout 3.0.11751.

1. Exports seem to be getting split into four sections divided by two thin lines going vertically and horizontally in the middle of the image. See attached files for example. Is this a issue or is it some new setting we have turned on? (Tested PNG and PDF, PNG export lines are much more visible.)

2. Using a transparent PNG as a texture there seems to be some anti-aliasing issue inside Layout. If the PNG texture has an object behind it Layout exports properly but when nothing is behind the texture, the issue occurs see export "without ground color.png". If a ground color is applied the PNG texture behaves properly like in my example. But due to our pipeline using layering inside Layout a background color in Sketchup will not work for us. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?
