Input Field In DC Attributes Window Blacked Out
-
Hi All,
I've run into a problem with DC attributes window when opening a custom attribute and the "Display Label" field is blacked out. There was a past post with a similar issue in the DC options window, that post had a solution for the options window but didn't fix the custom attributes window. The issue was caused by a Safari 5.1.7 update and the solution was to edit the DC Sketchup css style sheets. I couldn't find the style in the css style sheet that changed the "Display Label" input field. Does anyone know the style I need to change?

I'm having the same issue and wondered about the solution. Keen to hear if anyone has one.

Thanks Gaieus. I'd seen that fix editing the stylesheets, and while it does work on some dialogs, it doesn't on others. I also downgraded Safari as was suggested in another thread, but the black text boxes are still there. I'm managing by highlighting the text that's in them and can read it if I do that, but it is a little bit of a ghetto solution.

True. Those stylesheets are only for DC's (I think). Each plugin that uses webdialogs has its own stylesheet I guess and I can imagine that it1s a pain in the butt to search and find every line where the hacks are needed (especially with scrambled code)

are you sure you downgraded safari? if you click on the Safari menu then choose 'About Safari', what does it say for the version #? i'm assuming 5.1.7 still.
you can't just grab an old installer and run it normally and expect it to downgrade.. you'll have to use another app called Pacifist to open the .dmg then choose 'replace' at the prompts when installing..
(better pacifist instructions are out there.. on my way to catch a plane at the moment so i can't be entirely helpful) -
Thank you all for your input, this is a great forum. Is there a better way to reach out to Google and get this issue resolved? We understand there can be a need to do a work around at times with software but when we start getting into downgrading other software this is where some urgent action needs to be taken by google.
Any input would be appreciated.

thing is, I'm not even sure who is supposed to fix it.
at first, I assumed it was on apple but then a forum member recently mentioned he was using the safari 6 dev preview and the problem still exists..
there aren't any of these kinds of problems with any other apps (that I know of) so I'm now thinking its up to Trimble to fix??
and I don't know anyone at either company to get any sort of info out of so...
Ill just hang back and wait for now while running safari 5.1.1

Yea - Google is not in the picture of SketchUp any more. Trimble is now officially the owners of SketchUp. And I'm wondering if this is an Apple thing. This is not the first thing they changed stuff that broke backwards compatibility.

Hi Thomas,
Thank you for this info. We will submit an issue report to Trimble.
So in the big picture are you thinking the move to Trimble is a good thing? Who are they? Do you foresee SketchUp getting back to its roots and growing as an application?
Value your thoughts,

By the sound of the SketchUp team, yes.

I missed the requirement to force it using Pacifist. Done now, downgraded, and all looks good so far. Thanks so much for the tip.
