Thanks..I'm on a Mac, and when going to libray--application support--Google SU 8 Pro, there only appears Sketch Up and Style Builder folders. No Lay out folder, because I had tried that before...Any ideas...thanks,

Try going to the Users/Library/Application Support/Google SU8/Layout.......etc - you should find the template in question there.

      G'day Bert

Thanks for your tip, this is really a very smart way of hiding the dimensions in LO, much better than my method of creating Layers. Works like a charm.

For whatever reason the download appears as a Zip file on a Mac, instead of trying to unZip the file, delete the .zip file extension and it will be a Layout file and will open in Layout. Odd, but one of those things.

Thanks Karl that solved the problem.

Have a look at my attached LO file and extract the skp from it. You will see in the the scene manager how I set up my scenes. You will also see that I applied the LO "In Model" styles to the different model views.

      G'day cmd

Have just downloaded your folder to a Mac and its not making a great deal of sense to me as I cannot locate a valid LO file ? I did however find the jpeg examples in your next post useful. It would be great to see your LO example.

      Cheers

      G'day Gidion

The way I have handled this issue is to use a series of Layers for my dimensions. For example make "front view dimensions" "side view dimension" etc.

I move the various dimensions to the appropriate SU layer then make a Scene for each view with only the dimensions for that view visible. For example Scene Front View has only "front view dimensions" visible. In LO I then just select the particular Scene I need for the view in question.

Hope this is a clear explanation !

    • RE: Having difficulty claiming credit for model...

      Hi Tim

I note you are using a Mac. I am having the same trouble, login OK through web browser, and can download etc. but unable to upload as SU does not make the connection.

I think this is a Mac specific problem, and I too would like to see it fixed if anybody has any ideas.

Another useful app in this category is "TextWrangler"http://www.barebones.com/products/TextWrangler/
But "xCode" is hard to beat as it is made for the job and comes with every new Mac.

xCode - might be included on the Mac. Recommended by RickW

      Hello from Tokyo.
I am looking forward to feedback and comments. Tell me if it is working for you, I tried it with XP&SU6 only so far.

It works on OK on Mac OSX & SU7. Can you set it up so that by default it uses sunrise to sunset for the initial run, then allow the user to set specific times for subsequent runs. Another useful addition would be to have an option to print out the time as part of each new scene. Also set the default specified time run to run from 6am to 6pm as an initial setting, this makes more sense in more parts of the globe.

      Fredo

Thanks for all this work you are doing on the Mac versions.

I have just tried your last update which should remember the last position of the toolbars on Quit. Tools on Surface and Free Scale work OK but BZ_Toolbar, Round Edge and Null Transform still have the problem of returning to there previously displayed position.

It may certainly lack a couple of features (dimensioning being one of the most frequently demanded one) and I myself have a couple of "favourite feature requests" (both for presentation mode and pdf output) duely filed at the development team...

Something LO badly needs is the ability to tile sheets with a standard printer. For example if you have an A4 printer but a particular drawing is at a scale larger than will fit on an A4 sheet, there is no simple way of specifying that you want the drawing tiled over say two pages of printed output.
