    • RE: VRay and Sketchup crashing when Attempting to render

Well... it doesn't crash per se... it just hangs there... so maybe I should just wait a little longer... Immediately when I push the button it shows me the waiting indicator (the little blue circle) and it doesn't pop-up the Render items box (the one that list out exactly what it is doing, such as assessing lighting and starting threads and such, and shows the progress bar)... then when you click on the window after that, it adds "(Not Responding)" to the title bar, but, I know that doesn't necessarily mean that it is actually not responding (Windows is notorious for this)... I've waited 15 minutes before its worked though, and it just sits there and thinks...

    • VRay and Sketchup crashing when Attempting to render

      Hi,

First off, I'm not totally sure if this is supposed to be here (since it is a Newbie who's asking, me) or in the plugins forum, since it is about a plugin, if its in the wrong forum, please move it! I have built out my model and have come to the point where I am attempting to render it with Vray for Sketchup. My computer is an Intel Core 2 Q6600 (Quad Core), I have 4 GB of RAM and i have 2 Nvidia 8800GTX's running in SLI (and an Nvidia 8400GS running my two other monitors). I am running Windows Vista Business x64 Edition. When I click the render button, from within my model (that is, inside of a room) I get the little waiting indicator, and then Sketchup just hangs indefinitely. I tried this on a simpler scene and it worked fine, so, I know the renderer is working, but my scene isn't terribly complex, so I'm not sure why it would be crashing... does anyone have any sort of tips on how this may be prevented?

      Thanks!

    • RE: Shapes quite often fail to make faces capable of push/pull

Hi HonoluluDesktop, I hadn't downloaded the files yet, but I have now. I was busy and didn't get a chance to download and check out the file until now. My apologies.

wow! I really appreciate your level of assistance! What could you recommend to prevent the model from having a bunch of issues on it in the future?

      Hi Gaieus,

Thanks for the warm welcome. Attached is a sample of the floorplan I am working on (We will focus on the one closest to the origin, the left most one). If you look at the arching area in the middle of the floorplan, it looks to be sectioned off, but I cannot raise it. I really appreciate your assistance.

    • Shapes quite often fail to make faces capable of push/pull

      Hello,

I am very new to sketchup. I have been working on a floor plan, and using the Curved Line tool to draw a lot of my curved lines (imagine that!). I have a floor plane, and on it, I draw all my lines, then I select the interior of those lines and push/pull. However, a lot of the time I find it doesn't work, and I resort to, what I consider, ludicrous things to get it to work, such as drawing various straight lines within my shape, then erasing them one by one... sometimes this alone works... sometimes I need to have a little bit of a space and the rest of the shape is fine... I guess it's kind of hard to explain, and it really seems like there would be a space between a couple of my lines, but I really don't feel like this is the case. If I draw a square I have no problem pushing and pulling... but, when I draw my curved lines, i'm clicking on an end point of an existing line when I start drawing, so, I don't understand how there could be a space.

Can anyone help me out here? I'm really confused. Thanks.
