Like Kris said, I don't use Layout at all. James, it is possible, and I do it all the time, to place an image just outside the building in the SketchUp model. No need for Photoshop. See attached. Edit: I know the perspective is all off, this is just a quick example. [image: Image-Model.jpg] And here is the skippy, the skipalator, the skipster, the skip monster, the skippenator, the... ok I'll stop. Download SketchUp Model

I have ATI Radeon X550 - quite an old (bought it 2 years ago) and not very powerful piece but I get along with SU. Yet I heard Nvidia cards are better. There is a thread about this in the Pro forum (why there, BTW - I am moving it right here).

It is a dedicated graphics card. It is handling SU fine although I have not put it through it's paces yet. What I will do is test it some more later and report back.

oh thanks everybody, i understand now and managed to import again from a block (im using autocad LT 2006 and seemed not to let me purge or overkill or flatten so a block seemed to work ok). I have developed the whole thing now and I have posted it in the rendering gallery. Not so happy with it though. P: syburn

well i will have to try a few different ways - see what works. Im mainly working on interiors but as i want to design with this toolas well, i was thinking that i should create a layer template to make things easier. P: syburn

personally, I gave up on the component cutting feature. I preffer to just take a measure of the component, cut the walls myself (when drawing or after extruding the walls to 3D) and just put the component on the ready hole. (AcesHigh)
